Too bad he couldn't have gotten a hit in that last at bat, though.

With that single, his 11th Yankee hit, Brendan now has more Yankee hits than Reid Brignac and Ben Francisco combined. (5-44 each).
    Congrats Brendan

Which in itself is a sad indictment on the state of the Yankee affairs in 2013.

You can add Travis Ishikawa in there, too.

I have been impressed by his fielding. If he gets a chance next year, can see him moving ahead of Nix as the utility player or playing shortstop when Jeter needs a break.

That will likely make him the full time shortstop.

My god Nix AND Ryan both on the team next year. There's a scary thought.

That brings back scary thoughts of Len Boehmer and Jerry Kenney.

I don't care how good his glove is, he cannot be our regular SS next year. He is just too much of a liability at the plate. I would go after Steven Drew who the Sox don't need anymore as Boegarts will be their SS going forward.

I don't think anyone would disagree with you, the "cap" is the real issue to if or why we go after him.

The "defensive specialist" made a bad play in the 8th that isn't going to make the scorecard as an error, but the ball went under your glove. The legendary Ryan should have caught that easily. If you can't play to your strength, Id rather have Nunez as the backup.

I have noticed lately that he has a temper after he makes an out. That only works if you are Paul O'Neill.

As I was looking him up to make sure I spelt his name correctly, I noticed Celerino passed away at the age of 43. How young. RIP.

He had his times. Came in 3rd for rookie of the year. Only player ever to hit 3 homers in the annual Cooperstown game. Decent fielder. Mostly average otherwise.

Nah. Drew will be a $10+M one year deal, and I think he can get multiple years. (2 or3) I don't see the Yanks competing next year, and Jeter/Drew is a LOT of money at SS.

Also, I think that it puts an immediate controversy on the table....who plays SS? (Drew played to a 3.4 WAR this year)

Avoid the hoopla, put the money towards longer term players, Jeter has the job until he shows he can't do it, and Ryan is the backup for cheap money.

Yes he did. Now if he could only hit like a first baseman.
