Just stating an opinion...........not trying to trash Japanese pitchers.......the hype to me just seems over the top and no doubt some GM is going to throw a boat load of coin and ridiculous amount of years for his services..........http://www.bsports.com/statsinsights...npb-pitchers/2

I wouldn't paint with so wide a brush, but there is a bit of truth in this. The best hitters on Tanaka's team were Casey McGee and Andruw Jones. But Tanaka dominated so completely that it is a good bet he will win in MLB.

To be 24-0 with a ................ty offense, even if you're facing a ................ty offense, is impressive. One mistake and you lose the game.

Have the Yanks set a date and time for Tanaka's press conference yet? I think I'm going to watch it live.

Sure hope we sign Tanaka. For many reasons, but also for the fact that we essentially traded them Youkilis for Tanaka.

Tanaka looking for minimum of $17M per....

Normally, I would say it is a joke, but with the dearth of ready talent, and multiple teams bidding, he could get it.....

Can't see him accepting anything over 6-7 years. He's gonna wanna hit the market at 30-31 again.

I`ll politely disagree..........longevity has never been a strong suit for Japanese pitchers...........as you know they`re schedule and training has no comparison to the rigors of MLB.....

That's actually a worry. Verducci has a GREAT piece here....

I had no idea that Tanaka had this many miles on him.....it is historic really....only a couple other pitchers ever match him.

Wow if the get Tanaka that is a scary rotation with King Felix and Iwakuma. Probably the best in the league. If they get another 1 or 2 offensive pieces with Cano they could easily be a contender..

Yawn.....first it was the DBacks that was going to go all out for him. Then the Cubs aren't going to be outbid even if it's over 140 million. And, now Seattle is going all in although it was too long ago that it was being reported that they were supposedly cash strapped or something like that from a baseball pundit.

Pretty sure this is just a lot of speculation.

I will say that Jack Z is probably creaming his pants at the thought of adding a pitcher who just went 24-0.

With all the interest, it would seem that Tanaka might be the first $1B MLB contract.

Yes but i see another contract that the Yankees will scratch there heads and say we can't beat that.

Seattle and Chicago might end up in the battle for him. Man how times change when cable money starts to kick in like it did.

    Re: Masahiro Tanaka

For all those individuals who suggested that Tanaka should find a way to share his wealth with his former team, apparently MLB has concerns about this approach

MLB wary that Masahiro Tanaka might 'repay' Japanese team
Forgive me for taking the Contrarian view
