as crazy as this sounds its still possible considering that we will be playing TOR, SF, TB, HOU all of which are playing terrible baseball and we get 2 off days mixed in, first rest in 17 days.

The eternal state of optimism that the Yankees will win it all

Re: Countdown to 90 wins - Optimists only

Right now, the Yankees, Baltimore and KC are all tied at four games behind in the loss column to Tampa Bay & Texas, whereas Cleveland is two games back in the loss column.

This week, Tampa and Texas face off in a four game series - if we win against the three against Toronto, we will pick up ground against the WC leaders. Meanwhile, KC battles the Indians and Baltimore faces the Red Sox for three games.

After the TB/Texas series, Tampa faces Baltimore for four games, while Texas gets three games against KC - both match ups of WC contenders. Meanwhile, the Yankees play the Giants for three. Again, opportunity abounds.

Then, we get TB in the Bronx for three potentially very important games, before the season ends in Houston.

I predict much mixing up of the WC standings between now and September 30 - I just can't say who will end up with the berths, but, until they are officially eliminated, will always believe that my Yankees will win it all.
Forgive me for taking the Contrarian view

I'm..... still..... optimistic...... You know, I mentioned somewhere here, after the returns of Grandy & A-rod along with the addition of Sori, it would all depend if the pitching holds up.... well, I never thought the pitching would really crap out so badly, from top to bottom... yes, from ace to closer & everybody in between, its been horrible. pick a half-dozen games that decent pitching should've won, and the picture is a whole 'lot different now.
Roger Maris = single season "natural" home-run record-holder.

The TB/Rangers series is critical for the Yankees. Yanks have to win every game against Blue Jays cause they are guaranteed to gain on someone. In fact, they could actually occupy a wild card spot by next weekend as long as they win.......

I think Cleveland is in. Need to catch one of the others. Texas in a free fall, and Yanks play Tampa. Ideally can cut lead to where will only need 2 of 3 against TB, but that's unlikely.

It's gonna be a tough road, but the Yanks have the perfect schedule for it if they can get any semblance of SP
