    Re: Piecing together 2014 schedule

So we know the Yankees are at St. Louis for 3.

We know that we have a 2 at home and 2 on the road vs. either the Cubs or Brewers.

We know for sure we'll be at the Brewers. Whether it's part of a 2 at home and 2 on the road or if we're just going 3 at the Brewers remains to be seen.

We also know at least 1 of the 2 between the Reds and Pirates will be a 3 game series at Yankee Stadium.

Knowing MLB they'll make the Cubs vs Yankees a 2 game at Yankee Stadium and 2 game at Wrigley mid week kinda thing. Much like the Dodgers series this season. Gives a midweek attendance boast. If that happens it means both the Reds and Pirates would play 3 at Yankee Stadium and the Yankees road series would be at St. Louis and Milwaukee.

My preference would be playing the Brewers for the 2 games at home and 2 on the road. Then have the Cubs and Reds at Yankee Stadium. Have the Yankees go to St. Louis and Pittsburgh.

I was looking at stuff I had downloaded in my computer from last year, and I see that the 2013 schedule was released on September 18 or 19, 2012. So not much longer and we should have 2014.

Does kind of take away all the fun of piecing the schedule together over the fall like was done in the past.

Well we will find out the whole schedule tomorrow on Tuesday but Yanks are beginning next season like they are ending this season and that is in Houston. Here is the leak.

So the Yankees once again will open and close the season on the road. Funny how before Selig became commissioner the Yankees and Mets would alternate opening and closing the season at home. But now it seems the Yankees always get the shaft. Guess nothing will change until Bud finally retires.

Each team gets 81 home and 81 road games. Why is a team "getting the shaft" if they start or finish on the road?

Given the weather in April my wish would have the Yankees starting the season on the west coast. Better weather and you get a west coast road trip out of the way right from the start.

Its an advantage in a close race to finish the season at home. I believe the Yankees will be closing on the road for the 12th time in the last 14 seasons. And why at Boston again. I believe that's at least 4 times in the last 10 years they closed the season at Fenway. If it comes down to the last weekend you think that would not be an advantage for Boston. By the way I believe the Red Sox have closed the season once in NY in the last 30 years! It would be nice if things were done a little more fairly.

I was right about 4 games against the Cubs. Seemed the logical choice.

And counting 2014 that will be 12 of 16 on the road. And 4 times at Fenway. Makes sense to close against a divisional opponent but there should be some equality to it. I know the total road and home is even but it is an advantage to play your last series at home if it means something. An advantage the Yankees rarely enjoy.
By the way even know you have the Yankees listed as closing on the road at TB in 2001 those games were reschedule because of the tragic events of 9/11. The Yankees were originally scheduled to close that season at home against Baltimore so for my purposes I count that season as closing at home even know it did not happen that way.

All the NL road games finished by May and they never play more than three consecutive road (Non DH) games against the NL. Those are big advantages next season.

I get that, I was just going with what really happened in reality, which was their final opponent being played on the road. You are correct in pointing out that they were in fact assigned a final series at home by MLB that season.

I was at that final game vs. Baltimore. That was a super hot ticket because it was going to be Cal Ripkens final game ever and the Yankees had a bunch of pre-game ceremonies planned for him, which they still did. It was a nice tribute but due to the horrors of 9/11 it did not end up being his actual final game.

too early, mid to late August is usually when rumors swirl
The real reason why the Yankees keep winning is cause the other team can't stop staring at the damn pinstripes

Well, if you look at the first post of this thread, swirling started last year on July 22.

...and the article linked in that first post was dated and posted July 5th, 2013.

So you can probably assume that next year's preliminary schedule already exists and is out there, it is just a matter of what little teasers and nuggets will be leaked out before anything official is released. It's typically been around the second week of September when the official releases come out, if I recall correctly.

Just wondering how MLB will handle the Subway Series next year since the Mets are in the NL East and that is the division we're playing in 2015. Will it still be a home and home 2 game series or a one time 3 game set (possibly playing a different division NL team for the home and home)?

Mets will still be 4 games and one another Eastern opponent will also be 4 games, home and home. My guess it will be the Phillies. They will probably play a 3 game series against an NL Central or West team to get the total interleague games to 20.You can bet on one thing about next season. Yankees will close the season on the road like they have virtually ever season since the early 1990's.

Red Sox schedule for 2015 leaked. Yankees in Boston May 1-3.

No NL Central or NL West games for Sox - all against the NL East. And it looks like there will be 2 home and home series against 2 NL East opponents (Bos vs. Atlanta and Bos vs. Marlins).

Any guesses as to who the Yankees opponents will be?

Reread that post. Sox are playing 6 games against the Phillies next season. 3 to open the season in Philly, and 3 more in September at Fenway.

That means we will be getting 6 Subway Series games next season non consecutive, plus 2 home and homes against another opponent. 2 of the NL East teams will be one and done 3 game series, one home and one away. So, 4 of the 5 NL East teams will be visiting the Bronx next season, coincidentally, the Yankees will visit 4 of the 5 NL East teams on the road.
