weird to have a discrepancy for someone who played completely in the 20th century. I understand disagreements for Cap Anson (do you count the NA seasons or not), but for Collins? Weird...

I think it's just a mistake. MLB and Baseball Almanac has Collins at 3,315. What site lists him at 3,313?

It was what YES had in their graphic. Maybe Kay made it up.

Yeah, and SI said it in their article too. Are there any sites where it's listed at 3,313 for Collins?

I don't know about 3,313, other than someone at yes writing it down wrong, but MLB.com has Collins at 3,314.

My mistake, I meant Baseball Reference. MLB does indeed list him at 3,314. Strange indeed.

Baseball reference has him at 3315.

Doesn't matter much really. 7 more hits and Jeter will pass both Collins and Molitor. Nobody else he's catching this year.

I'm hoping he gets to at least 3436 next year, which would put him past Cap Anson (counting his NA games). MLB I think has Anson much lower than b-r does.

So according to YES he is now at # 9 on the list passing Collins. So someone has their facts wrong.

Which means they also have Anson at 3012 instead of 3435.

Either way, 5 away from passing Molitor.

Due to discrepancies in historical record-keeping, accounts of Collins' career hits total differ. The Elias Sports Bureau is the official statistician of Major League Baseball and recognizes Collins as having 3,313 hits, while other sources -- including MLB.com -- credit him with 3,314 hits.

So it's either 3313 or 3315. Both Elias Sports Bureau and BR are credible sources.

Like I said, very unusual to have a discrepancy for a 20th Century player.

I usually go with b-r; I also like that they include NA stats, which, while MLB recognizes the NA as a major league, they do not include stats from the NA with AL and NL statistics.

Seems a little odd that mlb.com would use something other than the official statistician of mlb as it's source.

Jeter is just so damn good that when he gets a hit, he takes away a hit from past hall of famers, lol.

Looking at the highlights he looked good on the 8th inning ground out. Besides that, have to agree.

There are so many ugly heads in this game and mistakes made, that double play is in the bottom of the barrell. No one is even going to bring it up in the media.
