For goodness sake, we are talking about a Grade I strain here - hell, I would bet than an MRI on 90% of all athletes would show a Grade I strain of some muscle.

In fact, I am pretty sure I just suffered a Grade I strain of my right abductor pollicis brevis from hitting the space bar while typing this reply.
Sounds like rehab is a waste of time.

Being the same age......... I get it. The body does not respond like it used to.... It really, really upsets you, but so be it!

I don't understand some of these people saying Jeter is done, or Father time is around the corner. You don't go from a .316 BA and most hits in the majors to being done a year later, I'm sorry but it does not work that way. A player will gradually decline, which has not happened with Jeter yet.

I see Jeter hitting low .300, then upper .200's over the next couple of years. Which is still better than most Major league player's career peaks. Jeter has been the get on base and score guy and get those clutch hits. He never was a power hitter, and a 65% Jeter still runs faster than most of the team. He also hit well into the .300 with RISP, especially in the 2 outs situation.

Jeter when he is close to 100 percent he is going to make a difference in a good way, and if people cannot see that, they are morons, sorry. I guess it's good that people have their lips flapping and making digs at his age, because that is usually when he has a good season.

You most certainly can have a drastic decline at age 38/39 when a major injury is involved. I'm not saying that he's finished, but a drastic decline is certainly not inconceivable given his age and injury.

This is Derek Jeter we are talking about. I think his passion to play and help win games caused these recent minor injury, because he gives everything he's got, and sadly he did not have 100 percent in him. This quad thing is only going to help him get more time off his ankle, he can take things slow again and finally come back the right way.

Could this be the end of the road for the Captain? Contract is up, new owners are set on a budget, and he is "old and beat up".

    Hope not.

I think they just want to give him more time, he can come back a week from tomorrow.

I just wonder how things will go this offseason. He deserves to go out better than this.

Next season he'll be back, and if he has a good year he will likely get another year unless he decides to retire, but knowing Jeter, I doubt he will retire. He says he is ready to play again but obviously the Yankees are taking extra precaution.

He has been the face of the Yankees for nearly 20 years, he is going to sell tickets which the Yankees are in desperate need right now. When he is ready to retire then he will retire. Yankees owe him that much.

A 65% healthy, 39 yo Jeter still runs faster and hustles more than a 100% young and healthy Cano.

It sounds like he is close, but likely won't be till next week. We need some good news for a change between A-rod, the injuries, and the inconsistent offense there has been nothing but doom and gloom for this team this season.

With all the ARod garbage the past couple of weeks, a much needed breath of fresh air to see Matsui honored before the game and The Captain going deep to start it.

Yep, and ending all the "x games without a RH home run" and "no HR since the ASB" stuff. Now we need some other guys to get it done.
