If they have anything you have to figure they'd want to announce the suspensions soon after the break; otherwise, they're publicizing a steroid investigation that is going to overshadow pennant races and playoffs -- which would be an awful outcome for baseball.

Anything new going on with ARod or is this just more discussion of the same old speculation?

You got it backwards. If they want to announce anything, they should have done it as early as possible. The later they do it, the more likely it will have directly impact on pennant races.

Right, but at this point right after the break is as soon as they can do it -- you can't go back in time. So quickly after the break is the best they can do.

40 pitchers, ever, have an ERA+ of 130 or higher for their career. 15 have 140 or higher. 3 guys have 150 or higher - one is right at 150, the second place guy is at 154, and Mariano Rivera is at 205.

It's kind of hard to tell, but if that LF wall says 372, that had to go 400 ft.

It definitely looks like it. He either hit or came close to hitting that brick wall back there. I just don't know the dimensions of the park but it looks like it says 372 on the wall:

Bud Selig was on Letterman and didnt exactly avoid steroid questions. I think at one point Letterman asked if ARod will ever play again, and he didnt exactly deny it. Kind of brushed it off (as expected). But didnt brush it off completely. I wasnt really paying attention. Look for yourself and make your own judgements. I'd post the video link but I'm on my phone

I really wasn't. I don't really care about what he does because he's not going to ever be a net positive for the Yankees again.

I'm a Yankee fan. Not an ARod fanboy, you see.

Here's a transcript of the interview on Letterman courtesy of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

As might be expected while appearing on the Late Show with David Letterman on Monday, Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig had to fend off some questions from the host about the Biogenesis investigation.

But, because the Letterman show is out of New York with that perspective, his questioning focused primarily on what will happen with Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez:

Letterman: "Alex Rodriguez, is he ever going to play for the Yankees again?"

Selig: "Only time will tell. We're in the midst of a very thorough and tough investigation on all of this, because I really believe that it's not only the right thing to do, but we're going to do it. That's all I can tell you."

Letterman: "Let me ask you this. On his side of things, isn't there a sum of money that's at stake here if he doesn't play again this season?"

Selig: "That's going to be between him and the New York Yankees. Yes, there is."

Letterman: "And that sum of money is incalculable?"

    Selig: "No, it's not incalculable."

    Letterman: "It's over $100 million?"

Selig: "It's over $100 million. It's been calculated by everybody, yes."

Letterman: "I don't know how this works. The Yankees will figure out something? Is he one that might be suspended?"

    Selig: "I'd rather not say."

Letterman: "Because you know, don't you?"

Selig: "I do, I do. The answer is I do."

Letterman: "How many players will be affected by the suspensions? We believe after the All-Star Game there will be a reckoning. Am I right about that?"

Selig: "At some point in the future."

Letterman: "And how many are we talking about?"

Selig: "We don't know yet. We don't know yet. We don't know."

Letterman: "More than a dozen or less than a dozen?"

Selig: "We don't know. I'll say this. You are persistent."
