    2013 Alex Rodriguez Performance Thread

Figured I'd get the ball rolling--he's playing a few innings today for Charleston.

So long as he's healthy, he's going to help the team. That much I'm sure of.

Actually - any part of Alex at this point, has to be better than what the Yankees have been getting at 3rd base.
Adams has been awful and Gonzo has been worse.

I wouldn't count on them getting the game in. I live about 60 miles south of Charleston on the SC coast and it is just a miserable day here. It's been raining all day and the sky has that black, spooky look as if it's going to suck up everything in it's way. I'd be very surprised if the Riverdogs play tonight and if they do somehow get the game in, the field conditions will most likely be less than optimal. I'd hate to have Alex play 3B in weather like this his first game back. I wonder if they'd consider just DHing him.

Alex's first rehab in Charleston shown on ESPN:

1st at bat, hits into a DP and barely jogs to First, assume he really wasn't trying.

Very risky to try to gauge this from watching a guy on awkward camera angles, but did ARod look pretty heavy to anybody else?

Would stand to reason to some degree, I guess, as if he can't work out as much with the hips situation, but then again I thought he was able to run in straight lines for a while?

Don't really care about the strikeout or DP, or even the base running, but not being able to field two bunts is a big concern. That tells me he's either not ready or just plain unable to do what he used to be able to do.

    Apparently he did ok.

The other team tested Alex with two bunts, one he fielded cleanly while not having a chance on the other according to Bob Nightengale and Dan Martin. They were the only defensive plays he had to make.

I wonder if the issue was that he was distracted by a couple of southern blondes in the crowd.

I thought people might enjoy seeing this look at A-Rod's day as a Charleston Riverdog from the Post & Courier:http://storify.com/postandcourier/a-...-in-charleston
    This made me laugh:
    Glenn Smith @glennsmith5
#riverdogs official tells me they haven't had this much attention from the New York media since Charleston fired on Fort Sumter #arod
I don't think they were quite ready for the media onslaught down here. Not quite sure how anyone could be.

I will never be confused with an ARod fan. However, I thought the NY Post headline, and all the crap he is taking for a two-inning rehab start (his first) is really juvenile and cheap.

A-Rod had two soft groundouts tonight for Class-A Charleston. He's expected to join Class-A Tampa tomorrow.

Ken Davidoff@KenDavidoff 22m A-Rod purchased steak dinners for his #RiverDogs teammates tonight. #Yankees

NY media will rip A-Rod apart for not adding lobster to each player's meal.
