    Re: problem with our lineup

The problem with this lineup is we are fielding bench players, at best, instead of every day ML players. Overbay has been OK, but he's batting around .150 against lefties. We need a platoon 1st basemen who is a righty with some power.

Stewart/Romine, Nix, Adams, and Wells are just holes in our lineup who need to be replaced by Cervelli, Jeter, Arod, Granderson ASAP.

Thank god for our starting pitching and bullpen. The one bright spots

Granderson in LF would be a lot better than Wells for sure, but don't expect anything from A-Rod ( I expect him to dog it intentionally if he ever comes back).

He has never, ever dogged it on the field. I don't expect him to start now.

Yeah, ARod has too much pride in his performance to ever be confused with a player intentionally dogging it. ARod has never lacked effort and I don't suspect that will change now.

Yeah he might not have anything left in the tank at 38 after 2 hip surgeries. A-rod has his faults and character flaws but quiting on the field is something I've never accused A-rod of or seen him do.

    Re: problem with our lineup

The real problem with the lineup is that it's constructed improperly (foregoing the talent level)

    Suzuki - 89 OPS+
    Nix - 69
    Cano - 129
    Wells - 71
    Almonte - 156
    Overbay - 91
    Adams - 34
    Gonzales - 3
    Romine - -1

Nix batting second is this lineup is an atrocious choice. It should have been:

    Almonte
    Cano
    Suzuki
    Overbay
    Wells
    Nix
    Adams
    Romine
    Gonzales

Nix batting sixth is only because Adams, Romine and Gonzales were in the lineup.
I'm a firm believer in giving the better hitters more chances.
Girardi loves Nix for some reason.
Jeter and Rodriguez need to get healthy sooner, rather than later for no other reason that to get Nix out of the lineup everyday. It would force Girardi to NOT bat that guy second...

No, the real problem with the lineup is the talent level. I don't think it matters all that much what order you put those jamokes in.

Yup. Every time I see this thread, I expect to see "the problem with our lineup" is that it includes....

    Nix
    Wells
    Adams
    Romine
    Overbay
    Gonzalez

    What more need be said?

There's nothing that can be done at this point, about the actual personell that the Yankees have.
What can be done is constructing a lineup that gives the team the best chance to score.
Batting Nix second ain't one of those possibilities.

Things are a bit different now , though ! A-Rod certainly wants his remaining money and may get a 100 game suspension at any time. If he could strike out most of the time and field awfully....he just might get to retire ahead of any penalties.

These teams have to learn not to sign guys to huge contracts that last 3-4 years after the player should realistically be retired.

At least half of them against the Yankees, it seems to me.

You may be right and I do believe the talent level is bad but you still have to try and extract what you can with what you have so putting out the best possible lineup isn't something you should overlook. But you're right I doubt it will make a huge impact in the end without new names in it.
