This guy has a really nice swing. I'm a bit excited.

nice swing, but I hear he has problems from the right side so I could see him platooning in LF with Wells in 2014. But hopefully I'm wrong.
The real reason why the Yankees keep winning is cause the other team can't stop staring at the damn pinstripes

His right-handed numbers this year were OK average-wise, but zero power.

he's more of a averages hitter than HR, but he has surprising pop. The reason we never heard about him, and I would say this in the prospects thread, his numbers in Scranton were bad. Everywhere else kid would just tear the cover of the ball but SWB was his kryptonite to hitting for some reason.

Good to see him having a nice game. He's under the radar for the last two years. Even lots of Yankees fans who follow the minor league underrate him because he's in the farm for so long and didn't really have a break out year. I project him as a solid corner OF in the major.

I have brought his name up in the prospects thread for a while.

He actually was well known in the past. When the Yankees signed him, he's viewed as a prospect who had high ceiling. But it seems that he stuck in the minor forever and people started to forget about him.

he had to work on that right side from all I heard.

I'm still LOL at the Almonte >>>> Puig stuff on twitter. He's going to be good tho. Everyday player that can drive in some runs.

Yes. Michael Kay said Zoilo Versalles, who won the 1965 AL MVP, was the first Zoilo and Almonte is the second.

He never played in SWB until this year and his stats were pretty good this season.
Is this the end of the Brian Cashman era?

I think he was referring to his home/road splits (said "Scranton" instead of "home"), which were pretty drastic this year.

.937 OPS on the road, .624 home

    Thank you philleo.

His power is real, it's there. And there is no doubt in my mind he can cover the inside heater. High and inside low inside.

what will make or break him is when they start pitching outside on him. That will be what makes or breaks his young major league career. The next few gms. are going to be interesting to watch.

Re: 2013 Zoilo Almonte Performance Thread

This team needs an injection but the fanbase could really use a young player to get excited about.

The lack of buzz this year has been frightening..so not to put any pressure on the kid but you are responsible for a good few millions people enjoying Yankee Baseball this year.
    Have fun!
