I think the knowledge that his time was limited with Tex and Youk coming back, he probably started pressing a bit.

After 0 walks in his first 86 PA, he now has 7 in his last 25.

He grounded out on the 13th pitch of his last plate appearance.

Travis Ishikawa has replaced Adams. Adams was demoted.

I think Adams is better than what he showed & I'm still a fan but I agree with the demotion, just not with giving his spot to Ishikawa. I don't understand that.

To be fair, it was a very prolonged slump. He didn't look like it was a rough patch, he just didn't look ready overall. That's fine; he can go back to AAA, get some solid minor-league work in without the injuries he battled before (maybe learn 1B!), and try again. I have the feeling we will need backup/fill-in infielders in the years to come.

I felt Adams was just beginning to turn it around. For one thing, he had finally started to walk.

But by all means, give his roster spot to a light-hitting lefty first baseman. We only had one of those around the place and that clearly wasn't enough.

I for one would much rather see a veteran scrub cast off by a division rival strike out than see anyone from our farm be given any kind of extended look.

He was hitting .190 with a 47 OPS+ and was a clear liability at 1b defensively. I'm all for giving guys from the minors a shot but he was mostly dreadful in time with the big club. I have no problem with his demotion. I hope they let him play a lot of 1B so maybe he is an option in a few weeks as RH platoon over there assuming he gets his swing back together at AAA.

That said I agree with those who think Isikawa is a dreadful alternative.

I would have preferred Mustelier but that would have required a roster move.
David Ortiz tested positive for performance enhancing drugs in 2003.

    Also Musetelier has been awful.

I think he is better than what he showed when he first came up, hopefully this time he can show it.

Since the last post in this topic he was demoted on July 28 and promoted today, 8 days later.

He was demoted. It's the fourth time since July 24 he has been promoted or demoted.
