Who Will Start The May 13 Doubleheader In Cleveland?

Starting tomorrow, we have 34 games in 34 days with one off day and one doubleheader. Who will start the May 13 doubleheader? Will Nuno start?

On another note, our next three road trips are all 8 or more games. The previous time that happened was in 2007.

I think what will happen in the Cleveland doubleheader will depend on what happens (or doesn't happen) in Colorado. We're having a terrible drought in Colorado, and barely remember what rain looks like, but the forecast is for rain showers all three days the Yankees are playing in Coors Field. I have tickets to all 3 games, and I'm packing a raincoat and an umbrella. [I might need to search for the umbrella...it's been a long time since we've needed one.]

There's certainly a chance one (or more) games get rained out in Denver. There's also a chance a game or two could run into rain delays, putting additional stress on the pitching staff.

"But what people tend to forget...is that being a Yankee is as much about character as it is about performance; as much about who you are as what you do."

isnt Nova ready to come off the DL on Sunday? Dont forget they could also call up am additional player for the doubleheader
The real reason why the Yankees keep winning is cause the other team can't stop staring at the damn pinstripes

Speculation is that it will be Nova.

Why not bring up Wang and let him start one of the games.

Is Wang on the 40-man roster?

Probably not but I'm sure there would be a way to get him on the roster. He could end up being a better choice than Nova.

The Yankees do not want to promote Wang because his velocity is only 88-90 and they feel he needs to work on more off-speed pitches to be successful at the ML level again.

I would still rather see Wang than the inconsistent Nova who is still wild and unpredictable.

    http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/yan...-ready-not-yet
-- Girardi said he had not settled on a second starter for Monday's makeup doubleheader against the Indians in Cleveland. The manager sounded unimpressed with Ivan Nova's outing in an extended-spring game on Wednesday and refused to commit to him for one of the starts. David Phelps, who threw six solid innings Wednesday night, is a definite for one of the games.

"We’ll worry about that as we get a little bit closer," Girardi said. "We have Nova who can make that start for us, he’s in line, and we have some other candidates."

The other candidates are presumably Adam Warren and Vidal Nuno.

How about CC since he only went 4 innings today?

I believe the new CBA allows the team to add a 26th player for one day if there is a DH.

Of course he can! You don't expect Romine to start a game, do you?

Nix can probably catch the second game. He's a professional ballplayer.

I have to say I don't understand the constant disparaging of Nix. The guy is a third-stringer who is being asked to play every day and has contributed with steady hands and intelligent at bats. It seems whenever somebody gives him the slightest compliment he is vilified for not being A-Rod in his prime.

It wasn't my intention to disparage Nix, who's a perfectly good utility man. I was disparaging Sterling and Waldman, whose constant and completely disproportionate gushing over Nix is inexplicable.

It's actually more Waldman than Sterling. I think our Suzyn has a little crush on Nix.
