To be honest even if the entire team was healthy I want Hafner at DH over ARod. He's been terrific and he is historically a great hitter while healthy. I want him in every day at this point. Obviously I am not ignoring that ARod is also a historically great hitter, however Hafner is doing it now. Roll with him.

If you look at what we've gotten so far out of each position, it's pretty easy to see where improvement is likely to come from in the form of guys returning from the DL or mid-season acquisitions (although it is early):

    Production by position:

    C: .261/.343/.424 sOPS+ 111
    1B: .220/.271/.410 sOPS+ 74
    2B: .327/.378/.618 sOPS+ 182
    3B: .276/.349/.367 sOPS+ 99
    SS: .211/.288/.289 sOPS+ 67
    LF: .295/.353/.505 sOPS+ 122
    CF: .264/.333/.418 sOPS+ 107
    RF: .265/.330/.408 sOPS+ 100
    DH: .253/.362/.515 sOPS+ 126

Assuming somewhat normal production from returning players, every position should be an upgrade.

Biggest bumps will obviously be with Tex and Jeter (though Nunez probably won't be this bad the entire time he's filling in). A-Rod hasn't had an OPS+ under 113 (last year) since 1995, so he should be able to improve on the 99 at 3B, especially if cycled in with Youkilis when/if he returns. And although he won't be in RF, Granderson should also improve on the 100 OPS+ from that position.

But Girardi needs to keep A-Rod, Youkilis, Hafner, and Jeter healthy by getting them regular rest.
