Ask Nova. I'm sure he still has wood grain imprinted on his butt from the first time he came up.

I can't argue with that but I'd be very surprised if Romine only plays once a week.

While your comment is technically accurate, you seem to be ignoring the fact that Cervelli has appeared in the majors in every season since 2008. You can't disregard these PA when evaluating Cervelli versus Romine.

I am not trying to argue that Cervelli >>> Romine. Romine certainly has more upside, but Cervelli is not trash to be discarded without due consideration.

Same with Phelps when he first joined the team.

With five World Series rings amoungst the trio of brothers, it is hard to use the term failure when referring to the Molinas.

There's also Gustavo Molina, who's unrelated but definitely a molina.

Yadier failed as a molina only because he was too good for that role.

Charlie Silvera has a whole lot of World Series rings. It wasn't because he was any good.

I thought for sure Romine would start today. Ugh. Maybe they want him to catch a side session with the first starter he'll be catching before they throw him out there. I really hope they are not relegating him to Stewart's backup.

My guess is JG wants him to start with a solid veteran, CC, Andy or Kuroda. Hughes doesn't need the distraction of adjusting to a new call-up, although I'm sure they teamed up in mL.

I'm not ignoring it? Cervelli might have been slightly ahead of Romine for the promotion, but the only reason he stayed up as long as he did was due to Romine's injuries. None of this is really relevant as I don't think either will be the everyday catcher for this team down the line.

The other possibility is that they didn't want him to bat against a knuckleballer. Otherwise I've got nothing. If they are serious about Romine taking over as our full time catcher next season it would be idiotic to have him play just once a week for the next two months.

I knew Girardi would do this, too him there's no such thing as a rookie who trumps a veteran, even if the rookie is a blue-chip prospect and the veteran is a career journeyman who can't hit his weight, and because we won the last two games that will give Girardi validation that he's doing the right thing.

Which is why the always fabulous Ben Francisco is on the roster rather than a deserving kid Yankee.

With all due respect I'd rather a stiff like Francisco ride the pine than a Mesa or Almonte. Let those guys play every day at AAA.

Girardi's lineup card confirmed exactly what I said. He his a prospect killer. He'll let Joba and Logan blow out their arms rather than try Nuno or Warren for change. Somehow Chris Stewert is Posada II and will catch every day. Amazing.

I will give Girardi a pass for today's game because maybe he did not want Romine to face a knuckleball pitcher his first game. But if we don't see Romine by Tuesday it will mean that to Joe Romine is no better than Warren.

I think they were waiting for the Houston Astros to come to town to give Romine his first start.

If only Joe would let BenFran ride the pine. Up until Saturday he was getting far too much playing time.
