    2013 Joba Chamberlain Performance Thread

Two weeks into the season and still no thread for him.

Throwing some gas in Toronto right now.

    98 MPH. Sharp breaking stuff.

    This could get interesting.

I give him credit for a serious HLD in today's game.

Yes he did, and his last two times out in fact. Good to see him touching 98. Seems like he's trusting his stuff a bit more too... probably got grilled by Girardi after nibbling and walking a few guys with a big lead a week or so ago.

I think he read my post and was shocked because he'd never heard me talk like that about him before.

If Joba looks like this moving forward and they call up Montgomery, we could end up with the best bullpen in the majors (tough competition from Nats, Braves, Royals, Sox).

    Joba throwing 98? Really?!

Yeah, I think the Yankees bullpen could be really good. I hope Mark Montgomery gets a taste of life in the big leagues this year. I can see him and Robertson making a great duo in future years. Not that I want to really acknowledge life without Mariano yet...

Attention Steinbrenner and front-office morons! Your triumphs mean nothing. You all stink. You can sit on it, and rotate! This is George Costanza. I fear no reprisal. Extension 5-1-7-0.

Really, really wish this kid could find a way to stay on the field. He is always getting injured. 15 day DL, but they said three weeks, before he could return. Sucks.

NEW YORK -- Joba Chamberlain has become the latest Yankees player to hit the team's crowded disabled list.

The right-handed reliever was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right oblique strain, the team announced on Thursday.

Chamberlain, 27, had no record and a 3.86 ERA in 10 appearances for New York this season, spanning 9 1/3 innings.

He had permitted four earned runs and 10 hits, walking six and striking out seven. Chamberlain last pitched on Saturday, when he recorded a save in a scoreless ninth inning against the Blue Jays.

The Yankees did not immediately announce a corresponding roster move to replace Chamberlain on the active roster.
An oblique strain is definitely not what you want to hear for any player on your team. Very tricky and slow heal for most people. Crap.

Do the Yankees have a team trainer (I know that soccer teams in Europe do)?

    Thanks John.

Juventus went through exactly this a couple of seasons ago. Constant injuries. Replaced the trainer (finally) and have been pretty much injury free (relatively speaking) ever since.

Impressive. Of course, they've been playing since 51 B.C.
