    Re: 2013 Offense Performance Thread

If it seems this Minnesota lineup is unimpressive, it’s worth noting that the Yankees have now scored fewer runs than the Twins this season.

Nah, it's inoffensive. To the other guys' pitchers.

Wasen't it great to see Hafner back in the cleanup spot. Is there any way other than an injury that Girardi would consider Overbay in that spot. Or anyone else on the roster.

    • Final word goes to Girardi, who was asked what will help this team score more runs. “Getting more hits,” he said. “It’s not really a trick.”

Looks like Alfonso Soriano might be on the way to help the offense a little bit.

Why the interest in Soriano (or any righty with a pulse)? Well ...

[The Yankees have] gone six straight games without a home run, their longest streak since 1996. Right-handed hitters have one home run in the Yankees past 55 games. Jayson Nix is their only righty to go deep since May 23.
    http://yankees.lhblogs.com/2013/07/2...game-notes-86/

And of course, Nix is on the DL.

They have seven homers total in the month of July, all by three lefties: Cano (4), Overbay (2) and Ichiro (1).

Could be the least home runs by the Yankees in July since the "Dead Ball" era.

I know how to fix the problems with the offense ... Just have MLB change the rules so CC Sabathia can pitch to the Yankee lineup instead of the other guys'.

Than again, that might be the quickest way for him to regain some confidence. Would be interesting to see, the resistible force meeting the movable object so to speak

When you can't hit or have no power and the team is chasing balls, at least try a different approach!! We could try taking more pitches, maybe try moving up in the batters box to hit the curve before it's full break.. Have a game plan, but one after another we first pitch swing, or chase balls!! You don't need power to win, but we can at least put on a major league at bat, when it's one run anything, even if you have to get hit!

I kinda agree with this. Something needs to be done...maybe something with Kevin Long? Idk. Tomorrow Jeter will be back so maybe his presence will help some of the guys. I don't like Ichiro in the 2-spot

I can handle being shutout every now and then. But if you were to tell me over the course of 2 games we score 6 runs when CC pitches and the next day Nova allows 1 run, I'm betting we win both of those games and I don't care who we are playing. Its just one of "those" years.
If they ask who was our star, give them 25 names, and if you forget our names, just tell them we were Yankees.

Are we really blaming Kevin Long for trotting out a AAA lineup everyday?

But the Yankees are tied for the second most SB since the break.
