    This is clearly on Mo.
When your team only scores 1 run you don't win very many games.
BB, single, sac fly. in the second.
    That'a all folks!

Sometimes one run is all she wrote, granted it's not a lot but it's no different then a 5-4 game or lead, it's still one run... With our staff it should be enough, if it were CC instead of Kuroda would some of you feel different?

No matter who blew the save, this one hurt Kuroda, and our Yankees... No slack for some, and sky's the limit for others! I realize its Mo, but I expect a better effort from the greatest closer, I thought his response was mind blowing!

As has been echoed previously, if you score one run in a game, you should expect to lose.

Since Friday night the Yankees have hit 19 consecutive singles. Wonder if that is a record.

So very sad to see the Yankee offensive state of affairs in 2013. Every game I am hoping that Yankee pitching will be able to pitch a shutout because I have so little faith in the Yankee bats.

    Re: 2013 Offense Performance Thread

This is pretty much what my friend and I were saying to each other when we saw tonight's (original) lineup in action:

The Yankees have certainty sent out some underwhelming lineups this season due to their never-ending list of injuries, but as far as the bottom of the order goes, I can’t recall a group that looked as punchless as the quartet that we saw hitting 6-9 in tonight’s 5-1 loss to the Kansas City Royals.

Newly acquired first baseman Travis Ishikawa hit sixth and was booed in his debut, striking out in his only two plate appearances. He was followed by Luis Cruz, Alberto Gonzalez and Austin Romine — three guys who might have a hard time finding Major League jobs elsewhere. Not exactly what I would call a recipe for success.
And how did Girardi justify this?

“We did it in Minnesota,” Joe Girardi said of this type of lineup putting up runs. “It’s kind of similar to what we had tonight, and we were able to do it in Minnesota. (Royals starter Jeremy) Guthrie has been tough. I’ve watched a couple of his starts, and he’s thrown the ball pretty well. He really kept us off balance.”

I wonder if Cash and Hal still think they've put together a championship caliber team like they were trumpeting all offseason. This offense is just about the worst they've had in a generation.

They really just want to make it to the post-season and take it from there. You are right though, the futility of this offense is pretty plain to see.

It surely is the worst since the early 90s at least, but ...

When they made those comments, whether or not puffed for PR, they expected Teixeira, Granderson, Youkilis, and Jeter to be in the lineup. (And Hafner has been a major disappointment, even though healthy.)

That still wouldn't have been a top-3 lineup.

Point well taken. However, the virtually nonexistent depth on this team was, and still is, an issue. Their seeming indifference to that is frustrating and confusing. I know it's hard to make deals for capable players, but Cashman sifting through the trash to field a team has been tough to watch.

Hey, hey. Of course they did.

    One.

    A single.

    In the eighth.

He even made it as far as second, too.

I never again expected to see a Yankee offense sink to the depths of 1989-92. I was wrong.

Well, 6-9 are bench players being expected to contribute everyday.

And 4 is Hafner, who is pretty much done (fwiw, I still think that contract was a good idea because it was so low-risk...I just wish we didn't have to keep batting him cleanup).

This team hits too many home runs!!

Eight runs last night were the most runs scored at home this year.
