Easily Kurodas worst game in a long time, but I put a majority of the blame on the defense which looks awful. And once again run support disappears when he pitches.

With that 5 spot by Texas against King Felix in the 2nd inning. Your NEW AL ERA leader is Hiroki Kuroda

He sorta hit the wall hard lately. So much for a Yankee start posting a sub 3 ERA.

Guess that's the end of his Cy Young quest
40 pitchers, ever, have an ERA+ of 130 or higher for their career. 15 have 140 or higher. 3 guys have 150 or higher - one is right at 150, the second place guy is at 154, and Mariano Rivera is at 205.

I wonder if his contract with Mr. Applegate expired.

Much better game today. Despite the high pitch count he did exactly what we needed him to do.

He threw 117 pitches for the first time as a Yankee. He had one game with 118 pitches and one game with 117 pitches with the Dodgers.

I think the high pitch count was more a by product of who we were facing as opposed to anything bad Kuroda did.

I actually thought for a brief moment I'd see a Yankee starter pitch to a sub-3 ERA in my lifetime.

A little while ago now, but Cone and Pettitte were both sub-3.00 with the qualifying 162+ IP each in 1997.

He really needed to get Victorino out leading off that inning. probably would have set quite a different tone. Cabral might not get crazy nervous facing ortiz. whatever
