    2013 Travis Hafner Performance Thread

I didn't see a thread for him on here. He's had a great day today. It would be nice if he could get familiar with that porch at YS.

He's been huge so far, enormously valuable even as a DH-only. Hope he keeps it up and keeps off the DL.

Hopefully he keeps it up. We really couldn't ask for anything more than what we've gotten so far from him. If he keeps it up then he's a huge ace in the hole.

hafner was among the best offensive players in all of baseball circa 2006. then he sucked relative to that high standard but still rly good

He hit 42 homeruns in 129 games many moons ago. I never realised he was this good at hitting. Hope he stays healthy and he'll be very valuable.
40 pitchers, ever, have an ERA+ of 130 or higher for their career. 15 have 140 or higher. 3 guys have 150 or higher - one is right at 150, the second place guy is at 154, and Mariano Rivera is at 205.

The dude walked a 100 times in 129 games in 2006. Ridiculous. Hopefully he can do what Giambi did his final year here.

Clogging up the basepaths again. Damn OBP.

Travis is a powerhouse, and we were lucky to get him.. Now if we would only play him a little more and let him stay sharp.. How nice it would be to get a healthy Mark back in the lineup with his ability to switch hit??

I do like Overbay and he's hitting much better, but Mark is a big time switch hitter with power...

I have no problem sitting a 35 year old who can't play the field and has a history of injuries. He's going to need off days to avoid a lengthy DL stint, might aw well get those off days v LHP.

I'm happy Overbay hasn't been replacement level which is what I thought he'd be when the Yanks took a flier on him but he's easily DFA'd as soon as Teixiera is healthy assuming no one else hits the DL.

Pretty good day - missed a 2 HR - 5 RBI day against LHP by a few feet.

I never want to see Ben Francisco start ahead of him ever again.

While I'd be happy to see Ben francisco show up in the ex-Yankee thread I'd still like Pronk to get regular days off regardless of how hot he is. He's played more than 94 games just once since 2007 and even that year it was just 118.

The guy will break with overuse.

    From RAB:

    MAY 14
Hafner headed for MRI on sore right shoulder
    By Mike Axisa
Travis Hafner will miss at least the next few days with a sore right shoulder. He is heading for a precautionary MRI, but given his injury history, every bump and bruise is a red flag. The 35-year-old is hitting .260/.383/.510 (140 wRC+) overall this year despite slumping hard in May (23 wRC+). Hafner had debridement surgery on his right shoulder back in 2008 and missed time with soreness and inflammation in both 2009 and 2010.
