With Texas losing their fifth straight game, the Yankees struggles against the red sox hurt very slightly less. A wild card spot still remains a possibility.
Cleveland's easy schedule and the talented Rays do not help the Yankee's chances however

Yep. The Yanks really needed the Baltimore Orioles to beat the Tampa Bay Rays today.

If the Rays would have lost today, a YANKEE SWEEP of the Rays would have been some bona-fide magical event to behold that MIGHT have gotten the WC for the legendary home team.

    Now? Not so much.

Well Yanks have no one to blame but themselves. I'm not really bitching and Baltimore just disappointed in the outcome.

I was watching the game on MLB.tv The Orioles put up a gallant fight. Got out of a big jam in the bottom of the 8th.

The Yanks are the most storied and legendary pro sports franchise in human recorded history and that won't change. We should be happy to be Yankee fans.

How about that: Henderson Alvarez pitches a no-hitter as the Miami Marlins walk-off on a wild pitch by Luke Putkonen.

The Marlins beat the Detroit Tigers 1-0.

With Henderson Alvarez's no-no, the Miami Marlins became the first team since the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 12, 1997 to have their pitcher(s) hurl a no-hitter and earned a walk-off win.

Francisco Cordova and Ricardo Rincon combined on a no-no in the Pirates' 3-0 win over the Houston Astros after 10 innings before Mark Smith hit a walk-off three run blast off John Hudek.

Tampa Bay Rays just won 7-6 over the Toronto Blue Jays.

Rooting for the Rays to take it all.

They were in the house for Derek's 3,000th as well as Mo's last game. If they weren't a rival, they'd be mistaken (speaking for myself only) for a "sister" -- rather "brother" -- team. Add in 9/28/11 as well, for the greatest night in baseball
Just flat-out like this team; the Front Office, the players...

Oh and just saw this today --
Price had grabbed some Yankee Stadium dirt to remember the experience, a piece of history that is certainly priceless. The Tampa Bay left-hander also changed his Twitter avatar to what looks like a photo he might have taken of Rivera tipping his cap to the fans.

    His avitar is of Mo.
Sure there's the underdog Pirates; Donnie's Dodgers, and of course Tito in Cleveland who will hopefully be able to stick it to Boston, but if the Yanks can't be there, certainly can't think of a more "likeable" team, from their FO, down to the guys on the field.

Feel badly that they don't have fans

Actually, I think Joe Maddon is a dick--despite the class he showed the other night. I'm still steamed about the Cervelli spring training collision that I largely attribute to him. Then there was that cheap move to protect Longoria's home run record a few years ago. No, I'm not gonna 'like' the Rays.

It's the those glasses that bother you, isn't it?

I'm hoping for a Cleveland-Pittsburgh series. I wouldn't mind seeing Francona winning the series. He always struck me as a good guy and it might tweak a few front office folks in Boston if he is the winning manager (Larry Luchino I'm looking at you)

Agree with all of that. My only beef with Tito is he is runner-up to Mike Scioscia as the top whiner in baseball, and he passed that onto the entire line-up, with Big Papi being the major offender.

    And yeah, those glasses....
