I'm still seeing Nunez as uncertain for tonight. If he's available in an emergency that would work. If not you could put Wells to third and A-Rod to 2nd, but I'd rather see another infielder. This isn't a good time to take gambles with the roster. Reynolds is pretty slick out there..I had no idea he was so versatile.

Agree, if Nunez can't go at all, it leaves 2B, SS and 3B one deep. Adams? Alberto Gonzales? He can play SS but isn't on the 40 man.

In an emergency, I suppose Arod could play short and Sori could play 2B. Lets just hope nobody gets hurt tonight.

For now he's in the starting lineup for tonight. However, he could get injured going in and out of the batting cage, so we'll have to wait for game time to know for sure.

Reynolds is not slick. He's a bad fielder at first and third, but he happens to have played a little 2B and a little SS long ago, almost all in the minors (before yesterday, he had 2 ML innings at 2B with Arizona in 2007).

No, but they only have 48 hours to work out a deal and I believe he was claimed on Monday. We'll know soon whether he'll be on the move.

Shoppach released yet again today. Are we set at C, or can he still possibly help us?

Nope, with Romine playing well (and should be playing nearly everyday) there is no need for a mediocre catcher.

    Jesus. This loss really hurt.

CoolStandings just dropped odds from 10.1% to 6.5%. Holy smokes. (not that 10% is decent, but what a drop on one game)

Honestly, this team needs to regroup on the off day Thursday and seriously look to SWEEP the Orioles AND White Sox in this home stand. 6-game winning streak is in order right NOW if they want a chance at the wild card.

well, when you consider that it's not only a loss but a game further back with one fewer game remaining, it makes sense.

6 game road trip and only once did the Yankees score more than two runs in nine innings. They are no longer fielding a lineup of mostly retreads and minor leaguers. Maybe they are just not good enough this season.

Do not go gentle into that good night,
    Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,

Re: 2013 New York Yankees Season Long Discussion Thread

The next six games could be VERY big.

If we sweep Baltimore this weekend, we leapfrog them in the WC standings.

The Indians are playing in Detroit, so we want the Tigers to give it their all. If we sweep the Orioles and the Tigers take two of three, we move ahead of Cleveland as well.

In addition, the Rays meet the Athletics, so we stand a chance to pick up ground there.

Then, onto the Labor Day game and series -

The Tigers are playing the Red Sox (in Boston) - go Tigers, whereas the Indians and Orioles battle each other and the Athletics have to deal with the Rangers.

If we can take the next six games, we could certainly be right in the hunt.
Forgive me for taking the Contrarian view

Same here but then we need 3 of 4 vs. Boston. We need a nice 8-2 homestand.
