On one hand I can not stand having a 13-man pitching staff and a 3-man bench...but then again there isn't anyone worth bringing up.

Sadly, this injury bug has gone AAA deep for the Yankees, with every position player who is on the 40-man roster on the DL, except Neal.

Ibanez hit #20 tonite. Why didn't we re-sign him? Did he want to back to Seattle? He'd be a better option than Hafner.

Right. What was up with that?

1.) He did want to go back to Seattle.
2.) He was pretty abysmal last year.

I like the broken bat rocking chair presented to MO. It was called " The Chair Of Broken Dreams ". Man, it's gonna be tough not to see him anymore. I hope he comes back to the Yanks in some capacity.
What we can appreciate now is that the Yankees from 1996-2003 were even more extraordinary than we thought.

We never went after him. I'm sure if we did he would have likely come back. Was he great last year? No. Him having 20 HR's on July 3 is insane. With that said, give me Ibanez over some of the crap on our roster now.

In hindsight sure, but no one could've predicted this. In fact I thought the Yankees got his last good run last year and made a wise move letting him go. I mean the guy is 41 years old and his entire game at this point is the HR. He was just barely above league average in 2012 and was below it in 2011. His 20 HRs now is already more than he had 2010 and 2012 and ties his season mark for 2011.

He's on a nice run right now, but don't confuse yourself into thinking this is anything more than a nice run. Recent history tells us this is a fluke and he'll come back to earth real soon.

Also its hard to knock the Yankees for picking the wrong old guy. That's not what we should be blasting them for.

Ibanez wanted to have a deal done by Christmas, and know his future. Cashman was not ready to pull the trigger that quickly, never made an offer.

Ibanez was FAR from abysmal last year. He had a solid year as a role player, and of course carried the team in the postseason.

I don't blame this on Cashman though, he had limited funds, and Ibanez pushed for quick decision.

Damon is too young and not injury prone enough.

Gotcha. I'll be with you, but I'm really dubious the FA is going to do that with the guy they traded Montero for.

    I also question this source:

A baseball official with knowledge of the Yankees' thinking said it would be possible for Pineda to eventually go to the bullpen if the Yankees don't have a spot in the rotation for him.

Yup. But knowing how the Yankees handle pitching, it wouldn't shock me if they did put him in the pen. Any whisper of the Yankees doing something stupid in that department is always a possibility.

For all we know, you could be that source. You seem to have knowledge of how the Yankees think!

Even though his SLG and WAR are better, Ichiro does a lot more than Raul can do.
Staring with playing all 3 OF positions way better, and the base running skills.
