Shouldn't be much of a problem for a guy that already has two Franciscos on the team.

When Francisco the catcher came up, Girardi called him "Cervy," so maybe Ben gets to be "Francy." "Caspy" would be a stretch for most of us, but maybe not for Joe.

Joe does call Ichiro "Ich" (pronounced "Each"), though, so he's capable of some variation.

^ Maybe that's why he doesn't call him "Ichi."

Yeah, maybe ... To Ich his own, I suppose.

Though, "Ich" is German for "I" (and "ego").

lol apparently the yankees made an offer to valverde during the winter:

can you imagine this clown on the team, and what would be going through mariano's mind if he saw this?

Mariano would give him a little talking to, and he wouldn't be like that any more ...

Can't believe the Yankees actually made an offer, though. Wasn't he the only one of their pitchers they could actually hit?

I don't usually like animated gifs, but this one is too good to pass up ... Valverde reacts to Ibanez's game-tying homer in the ALCS, Game 1:

having both ichiro and gardner in the lineup is like having two clamps on your nipple... you might be able to handle and even enjoy one of them, but two is just asking for a lot of pain

Today was the first game since August 27, 2009 that Yankees pitchers struck out at least 13 in a game the Yankees lost by more than 1 run.

An inauspicious stat, but at least 2009 ended well!

For a team that hasn't developed a whole lot of talent through their farm, this team sure as hell gets a lot of mileage out of their old dudes. I guess that's the tradeoff.

I would rather they take a chance with the young guys instead of retreads.
