Re: Where will Arod be on September 1st, 2013
I think Arod will still be on the team. His role might be diminished though.

Re: Where will Arod be on September 1st, 2013
Baseball COULD suspend ARod, but first they need proof and with ARod's money and influence it will be extremely hard to get proof as long as he refuses to admit guilt. Remember Bonds after all this time has never been PROVEN guilty and look at how long it took to catch up with Lance Armstrong.
I am not saying that he shouldn't be caught and punished, all I am saying is that I am cynical and feel he'll get away (at least until the rest of his contract is fulfilled in five years)
And ARod would never agree to be sent to the minors. He holds the upper hand. Lets be realistic of what will/can happen

I acknowledge the difficulties of removing him. But I just don't see how he can ever take the field for this team again.

I'm confident that Alex took performance enhancing drugs.
Not confident on what will happen if they prove or not prove he took drugs."Well guess what? He's dead. You just signed a dead guy." --pleasepassthesoup

He'll be trying to answer the question, "If Alex could take steroids and have monster years is it OK if he is not caught?"

Re: Where will Arod be on September 1st, 2013
I think the fact that Cashman says he hasn't talked to A-Rod is an indicator of the direction the team is taking. It seems to me that if they had any intentions of keeping him at all costs, Cashman would have been on the phone with him the minute the story broke - asking A-Rod about all the details, lining up the spin-doctors, etc. Right now all they are trying to do is keep the location of his rehab a secret. I don't know how feasible that is. The media these days have all sorts of ways of tracking somebody down. Even if they were to find him, I can't imagine A-Rod giving them anything but a "no comment".

Re: Where will Arod be on September 1st, 2013
You're right that their silence is telling, though I don't think the Yankees' stance is an indication that they expect to get rid of him (though I wish they could!). I think they're just completely exhausted and fed-up with Alex, so they can't muster up the energy to help him out or reach out to him, and they really don't care who knows it.
I mean, considering how sick of A-Rod I am, imagine how poor Brian Cashman feels!

Re: Where will Arod be on September 1st, 2013
Speaking of Cashman.....
Sources say the embattled Yankee star is "scared" that bigger forces are at work to try to discredit him and sink his career. Holed up in Miami, Rodriguez has been huddling with an army of lawyers and PR people as the performance-enhancing drug scandal enveloping him intensifies.
"He’s scared, because he thinks this is so unbelievably false, and he’s wondering who could be behind this," said a source... "He thinks something could be going on larger than anyone might think."
The source added that Rodriguez is wondering if the Yankees or even Major League Baseball are behind the latest controversy.
If Cashman broke into Biogenesis Clinic, Watergate style, and planted this evidence. Maybe the Yanks should give Cashman a 10 year deal.Goin for 2<strike>7</strike>8!

Re: Where will Arod be on September 1st, 2013
You have several other MLB Players connected with this Bio clinic and they come out and admit they have had contact but on "consulting" or "buying legal Supplements".
Arod comes out and says he never heard or has had any contact with Chris B. And that my friends will be his undoing.
Once they connect plane trips, phone logs...."Well guess what? He's dead. You just signed a dead guy." --pleasepassthesoup

A-Rod is all about the money, thus the big contract and opting out. No way will he voluntarily retire with what 5years/ 100+MM left.
We are stuck with him. I think he is done as a productive player.

Re: Where will Arod be on September 1st, 2013
Every player is about the money just as much as they are about anything else. Using this as a knock on A-Rod is silly. Would you give back a hundred million? Even if you or he would it's not allowed. This subject is dying the slowest death, ever in the history of any subject, ever.
In Cashman I trust.
Players come and go, flags fly forever.

if Karma is real, hopefully in prison.
I know they're not going to, but I really wish MLB would hand down suspensions for this, and then the Yankees would void his contract. He's an embarassment to the team, the game, and himself."If your hand touches metal, I swear by my pretty floral bonnet, I will end you."
