Is the "trend" a bone in the wrist or the hand? And why do you hope he breaks it?

    Re: Yankees sign Travis Hafner

A former first baseman, Hafner has not played in the field in a regular-season game since 2007, and he has little desire to do so.

“I haven’t really thrown much over the last five years or so,” he said. “Usually people if they need first-base mitts they call me because they know.”

Asked if he might take ground balls at first base during camp in case the Yankees needed him in an emergency, he hedged.

“I haven’t done it for a couple of years,” he said. “I don’t know. Try it out, see how it goes. I’m not sure at this point.”

Thankfully for Hafner, Yankees Manager Joe Girardi let him off the hook. “He’s a D.H.,” he said.
So...he doesn't take the field, ever.

A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines.
