Re: Yankees close to signing Travis Hafner
His WOBA v left hand pitching is .352 career and .324 last year so he's not completely useless against LHP

Re: Yankees close to signing Travis Hafner
Canzler DFAd for the 4th time this off-season. That's gotta have his head spinning.
I like the signing, but at the same time have no confidence that he can stay healthy. Would be happy with 400 PAs, a number he's eclipsed only once in the last 5 years.

Re: Yankees close to signing Travis Hafner
I'm assuming he must have passed some sort of physical, right ? So he should be good to go, I hope.
What we can appreciate now is that the Yankees from 1996-2003 were even more extraordinary than we thought.

Re: Yankees close to signing Travis Hafner
I like the signing but I do not like losing Canzler.
They must have faith that Juan Rivera will be able to be the backup outfielder, backup 1B and maybe even DH against lefties, unless Scissorhands does the DHing against lefties.
I am concerned that Hafner named his son "Tripp." If that was in honor of Sarah Palin, well,
Oh man....

Re: Yankees close to signing Travis Hafner
This is a pretty solid deal, though it's almost worthless expecting Hafner to stay healthy for a full season.

Re: Yankees close to signing Travis Hafner
Ya, that ARod! Though, I'm not too sure how relevant he is to a Travis Hafner thread, how that's a kick in the stomach or how that'll get an already broken Travis to play more than 60-80 games? But, why the heck not...we're already discussing ARod in 4 other threads, so what's one more?
Back on topic. Travis looking pretty healthy on the golf course.

The Yanks seem to be very good at picking players off of the scrap pile for cheap and making it work.

Re: Yankees close to signing Travis Hafner
This thread is amusing. I hope he stays healthy, he's a great hitter when he is. But I agree this bares a striking resemblance to the Nick Johnson experiment.

Is Hafner officially signed? If so I'll edit the title of the thread.
