Re: Yankees close to signing Travis Hafner
If he can recapture just a little of that power from years gone by... Oh boy...
Welcome to NYYFans, the place where Yankees fans come together to complain about the manner in which our team is winning games.

Re: Yankees close to signing Travis Hafner
Love the signing if it happens. If he can just stay healthy for part of the season and maybe the motivation of possible postseason play will be just what the doctor ordered.
I'm too smooth you'll never see me comin', I'm never in a hurry I'm just movin' fast...

Re: Yankees close to signing Travis Hafner
In before people criticize Cashgod for signing another old guy.

Wonderful signing, though, and just what they needed. <3

Re: Yankees close to signing Travis Hafner
I just hope he reaches the short porch a few times before he spends the rest of the year on the DL, but not a bad low risk signing as things go.

Re: Yankees close to signing Travis Hafner
THIS, I like. I know Hafner can't stay on the field, but you never know....maybe he can have a healthy season. Guy flat out hits when he plays, I love the move.
Goin for 2<strike>7</strike>8!

This could work out fine, but I think people are getting a little overenthusiastic about this. Pronk turns 36 this year. He can't play the field even in an emergency. He's only played 100+ gmes once in the last five years. Last year he was had two 6-week DL stints - knee and back. He can't hit lefties at all, and after he came off the DL the first time last year, he really didn't hit anyone.
I've always liked him. I hope he finds the short porch a few times before he breaks down. But I'm not counting on too much.A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines.- Barry Manilow

Re: Yankees close to signing Travis Hafner
The Yankees and Cashman have been extremely productive in signing high potential low risk players. Many have worked out on the cheap. I am all in favor of this approach as well as beefing up our farm system.

Re: Yankees close to signing Travis Hafner
he is strickly a DH, no fielding what so ever
The real reason why the Yankees keep winning is cause the other team can't stop staring at the damn pinstripes

If he stays healthy, this could work out really well.
