ARI Agrees to Trade Justin Upton to SEA; Upton Says No, Uses NTC
http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/blog/sc...mer-in-arizona
That he only has 4 teams in his NTC, and they tried to deal him to one anyway, is pretty funny.
Looks like he's going some place very, very, very soon.Upton has four clubs included on a very limited no-trade clause, including the Mariners and Blue Jays.
The deal would have sent three or four players back to Arizona, according to CBSSports.com sources. Included among those players would have been relievers Charlie Furbush and Stephen Pryor, minor-league shortstop Nick Franklin and, likely, one of three minor-league starting pitching prospects: Right-hander Taijuan Walker, lefty James Paxton or lefty Danny Hultzen.Mo' Nut: One Smoove Brotha.

Towers has to be pissed, missing out on an overpay like that.
It would be funny if he lost it and traded him to Houston for a bag of balls.Fistpumping like a champion.

1 of those 3 pitchers plus some pieces is not a huge reach for upton at all. if seattle offers upton an extension promise or something, he'll go there
always reasonable

I find it interesting that Upton has Boston but not NY on his NTC. It seems like players generally have both or neither.

Re: ARI Agrees to Trade Justin Upton to SEA; Upton Says No, Uses NTC
Very confusing to say the least. Seattle is one of the teams in his NTC. So why did the D-Backs spend so much time trying to work out a deal? Why did they waste Seattle's time? Why didn't they go to Upton first and ask him if he would even consider a trade to the Mariners?
But now that the names of the players being offered have been made public, other teams have an idea of what it will take for them to land Upton.

Sucks to be a Mariners fan. They needed him in the worst way.

Maybe. I think he's a future MVP candidate. We'll see. I'm pretty certain he's going to get traded anyway now. I was surprised to learn Boston is on his NTC.
Oh and from what I read Paxton and Hultzon were not in the deal. So the Ms still had some major guys had this trade went through.NYYFans Fantasy Baseball
