It's official - must have passed the physical: The Yankees announced that they have signed infielder Kevin Youkilis on a one-year contract. The Pro Star Management, Inc. client obtains $12MM, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, who first reported the agreement (via Twitter). I don't think so. And it's only one year.

Plus, at the time, this was probably the best alternative given what had transpired.

Nice article on Yankee Analysts on fixing Youk's swing. Looks like Long found something and has been working with him.

Thing is, identifying the problem is only a start.

Maybe it's physical issues like lower bat speed that are causing the adjustments. He's got his own hip issues ( ironic he's Al's replacement @ 3rd, no ? ) and maybe that's causing the changed mechanics.

Of course hoping for the best, but I think we need to temper our expectations.

Basically, we hired a player, paid him 12 million dollars and now we are going to try to help him learn to hit again. Not saying it won't work but an unusal approach to say the least!

I don't think Youkilis needs to be taught how to hit again. He just needs to be healthy, otherwise no amount of work with Long is going to change much.

What a strikingly handsome figure of a Yankee player he will make in all his Yankees gear.

Maybe if he was allowed the facial hair it could be a help. I'm gonna make a prediction here. I think he'll have a walk-off home run for the Yankees this season. Just not against the Red Sox I'm hoping.

I predict he'll be drilled by both Aceves and Buchholz this season.

It would be even better if Joba is on the mound the next inning and fires one over the first batters head in retaliation!
