Re: Yankees sign Youkilis
I wonder if there will be a presser ? If so, must see TV.
What we can appreciate now is that the Yankees from 1996-2003 were even more extraordinary than we thought.

Re: Yankees sign Youkilis
Never did I ever think Youkilis, of all the former Sox players, think he would be a Yankee in his career.
Let's see how this pans out...

Not happy about this move (which isn't entirely rational, since he's probably about the best option at this point for '13). But it is what it is. All I know is he better up his game or it's going to be a really ugly year for him in the Bronx. Below league average offense and defense ain't gonna cut it.

Wonder if Girardi will talk to him about the constant whining @ the plate?

Welcome aboard Kevin. Here's hoping you have your best season yet.

Re: Yankees sign Youkilis
I agree with this. But not just about Youkilis.
Given the sendoff this year's team got from the fans in the first two games of the ALCS, and the shift to a budget-conscious management style, I worry that the ugliness of Yankee fans toward their own team could be one of the big baseball stories of 2013. I can't escape this feeling that the abstract expectation of a championship is still there, but the concrete expectation for 2013 is a bad team, and the gap between those two has the fan base ready to rip this team to shreds at the first opportunity.
Obviously if the team does well -- and I still think they're the best team in the division -- this may not be an issue. But I don't see the Stadium crowd having much patience for even short-term, small-sample disappointments, much less a prolonged losing streak."Baseball is about hope, not confidence." -- rajah

Joba's quest to kill Youkilis will have to be done in intra-squad games now. They should give them adjacent lockers.
