Re: Trade Proposals
Granderson for Jon Jay straight up with some minor league kickers would be nice.

Re: Trade Proposals
Rush over at bleacher report suggests a Williams/Austin/Heathcott/Betances prospect package for Stanton. I love me some Stanton, but that seems like a bit much.

Re: Trade Proposals
More seriously, people who should be on the block for the right pieces, namely starting pitching.
Nova
Granderson
Cervelli
Joba
Hughes
Dickerson
Nix
Nunez
Arod + huge cash dump makes a lot of sense to me. He's not going to do well in NY, I think it's clear. I'm usually the last person to cite NY pressure, but the atmosphere for Arod is just toxic at this point.
He'd play better somewhere else, giving that team more value than he'd give us. Rough numbers to illustrate my point: He's worth ~$12 to us, and ~$16 to someone else. He's being paid $26. send him and $12M/yr somewhere else. Use $14M/yr for a pitcher (even it not this offseason).
Of course, that sounds great on paper. Finding someone to do it at the right numbers is another story.
In theory, if we trade Granderson away and Arod away, we're at $175M (unless the $10M/yr we eat from Arod doesn't count, then we're at $165). Let's just get under the cap this year, reset the lux-tax, keep Cano and make a few more big moves
A fool and his money can throw one heck of a party!

Re: Trade Proposals
I would like to apologize for my drunken BEE-Otch state the other night.
As for how 9/11 got in to the conversation, the day it happened NYYFANS was the only way I could get any news about what was going on. I have family in NY. I was also greatly inspired by the people and the incredible courage and resiliency and the fight in NY'ers.
Yes I signed up 11 years ago when Jim Frasch opened the site and no I don't post a lot but I do love reading about your ideas and getting a feel for what exactly is going on up there. Being a 2nd generation Yankee fan and living in NC (where the Yankees are hated) isn't easy.
Thanks for making this into a trade talk thead in spite of my ass-hole -ness

I believe calling a forumer an ass-hole is a ban-able offense.

Re: Trade Proposals
Also, just to be proper, wouldn't it be ass-holeish-ness? I think it is.

Re: Trade Proposals
Personally, I don't see either offer being sufficient to pry Stanton from the Marlins.
And, as False1 states, I think the price is too high - IMO, the Marlins are going to ask for the Sun, the Moon & the Sky for Stanton and won't move him unless you the Stars to boot.Forgive me for taking the Contrarian view

Re: Trade Proposals
It wouldn't surprise me if they went for that first one listed. They're not going to compete for a while, and Stanton is going to get more expensive over the next few years. May as well go for a high upside package like that. If just one of those guys becomes a quality outfielder, they've made out pretty well and saved millions while they occupy the cellar. All three of those guys could potentially be quality cost controlled outfielders for years to come. If they swapped ot Betances for another quality arm like Phelps I bet the Marlins would go for it. If you're going nuclear to rebuild, may as well go all the way and hope fortunes change in a few years.

Re: Trade Proposals
Given that Selig has already proclaimed he'll be watching the Marlins, is there any possibility that he might ban a Stanton trade if it came down to that?
