Re: Melky Cabrera signed by Blue Jays
Great signing by the Jays - this is the type of move the Yankees should have made to fill that gap in RF.

Re: Melky Cabrera signed by Blue Jays
well put
Also, we don't know what kind of PEDs he used. They might have had a permanent effect on his body that would carry over even after he stops actively using them, in which case the Jays would benefit.
lastly, ya never know if the Jays (like the R. Sox in the 90s/00s) have their own private program of controlled and undetectable PED usage that Melky can make use of... #conspiracytheorieslike delv, but better

Re: Melky Cabrera signed by Blue Jays
WOW.....
The dude gets busted for steroids and he gets rewarded with a 2 year $16mil. Contract. Think about the message being sent. I can cheat and still get paid.[FONT=Arial Black][SIZE=3][B]“I would like to take the great Di Maggio fishing....They say his father was a fisherman. Re: Melky Cabrera signed by Blue Jays
Article at "Hardball Talk" made a good point about him taking a 2 year deal. If he was secure in his non PED talent, he probably would have done a 1 year deal to prove he was for real then cash in the following year......

Re: Melky Cabrera signed by Blue Jays
He can play like the old sub 100 wRC+ Melky but it's not necessary related to PED.
History shows that there are lots of 1 year fluke players.

Re: Melky Cabrera signed by Blue Jays
It's NOT semantics. For all we know Melky could have been taking a stupid over the counter test booster. This reminds me of when Daniel McCutchen tested positive for aderol and everyone thought it was steroids. Big difference between taking an oral test booster and shooting up with anabolic steroids.

Re: Melky Cabrera signed by Blue Jays
There are over the counter testosterone boosters. They aren't difficult to get at all. Many are advertised for on TV and radio. Taking a test booster is COMPLETELY different from taking anabolic steroids. It's also extremely easy to mask, so he might not even stop taking it. The fact that he actuall tested positive for testosterone tells me that that is all he is taking. Everything else is much more difficult to hide.

It`s why players need to be banned for at least a year.......why not cheat when you have paydays as such......
