Re: World Series 2012: Detroit Tigers vs San Francisco Giants
And that's Barry Zito's second RBI this postseason.
This Giants team seem to pretty much credit Barry's win in Game 5 to be what got them to the World Series, both literally in allowing them to go back to San Francisco, and giving them the final push to win those past two games. He's among the heroes of their postseason so far, so it just might justify that contract.

A Giants sweep would be wonderful however I expect the Tigers to have more success at home vs a right handed pitcher.

Re: World Series 2012: Detroit Tigers vs San Francisco Giants
http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports...0d8_story.html says "In the last 30 years, 13 teams have been in the Giants’ current position. Every one has won the World Series, including famous upsets or sweeps." By "Giants' current position," it means up 2-0, but the author is wrong because of the 1996 Yankees.

Please let Motown lose the next 2 games at home. That way, they'll be the ones who had the biggest postseason choke, and not the Yankees.

Re: World Series 2012: Detroit Tigers vs San Francisco Giants
What do you mean by choke? If you mean getting swept in a post season series, it's happened often enough and i really wouldn't define it as a choke, even if the team that was swept was the favorite. Choke implies being up in a series by a considerable number and choking that lead away, like the Yankees in 2004.

As much as I would like for the Giants to sweep, I would like them to win it at home too. Either way I love watching Detroit get smacked around.

Re: World Series 2012: Detroit Tigers vs San Francisco Giants
I said the Giants in six originally too, but that was before the first two games. They have a good momentum going and of course, their chemistry is fantastic. I'm hoping they win tonight because I'd love Ryan Vogelsong to have another spectacular outing on top of the ones he's already had.
I don't doubt the Tigers are going to grab one or two at home though, and I wouldn't be against this series going back to San Francisco. They've gotten a chance to celebrate with their team more than in 2010 (where every postseason series was won on the road) but getting a chance to win in that ballpark would be great.
The small ball the Giants play is so great to watch. I know a lot of fans of the AL look down on that type of play, like it's not as legit as slugging, but damn, do the Giants know how to use it to their advantage.

Re: World Series 2012: Detroit Tigers vs San Francisco Giants
I think there's a good chance the Tigers can grab tomorrow's game. Matt Cain is the Giants' ace but his control hasn't been as great these past few games and of Vogelsong, Zito and most recent start Bumgarner, Cain might actually be the weakest link at the moment. That said, he is Matt Cain, he's the Giants' equivalent to CC and he very rarely doesn't get it done. If Scherzer is on, it may come down to who gets a run across the plate first.
I noticed some booing after big Miggy/Prince strikeouts. That might also be enough to get them in gear and wake up their bats.

Re: World Series 2012: Detroit Tigers vs San Francisco Giants
If the Tigers lose tomorrow, will there be articles about how Verlander, Cabrera, and Prince all choked?
Also, Leyland not having the infield in in the 7th in Game 2...that was ridiculous. This is the World Series man, you gotta save that run.
I think the Giants win tomorrow, especially with Cain on the mound.
