The poor drafts of 2007 - 2009 are coming back to bite this organization

2007 was a poor draft. 2008 was a solid draft (Phelps, Turley, Marshall, Adams and Joseph). 2009 draft was all depended on the development of Heathcott.

You realize that that the Yankees will then have the same number guys in their starting lineup from the late-2011 SF Giants, than they will from the 2009 NY Yankees.

I hope Hal Steinbrenner sells the team to someone who has his fathers passion for winning and not a bottom line guy, LIKE HIM, because right now we are watching the mid 60's CBS ownership of the Yankees all over again.

This is hard to watch.

Well to counteract, the pitching is much better now than it was 8 years ago. Granted after 2013 a lot of it will be gone (Hughes, Joba, Mo, Kuroda, Pettitte) with no obvious replacements.

I think they will compete this year

What we are learning now, or should I say those of you who didn't already know it, is that Brian Cashman is absolutely useless without George Steinbrenner's checkbook bailing him out.

This is not Billy Beane who can build a winner on a shoe-string budget. You take away George's brinks truck and this GM is lost.

I'm far from a Cashman fan, but he is capable of making shrewd, low-dollar deals. He's done this several times, with Ibanez, Chavez, Aardsma, Eppley, in just the last season.

They had 4 guys OPS .900 or near .900 in 2004. And Sierra was only in the lineup because Giambi died, he was a potential .900 OPS guy to pencil in. 2005 had MVP-Rod, still had Sheffield & Matsui, Giambi was back, Posada still getting on base. All these teams had Derek Jeter kicking ass. We had rookie Cano who hit for nice average & some power.

Compared to then, who are the 4 guys that are going to be lights out hitters?
