Re: "Source:" A-Rod to Miami maybe?
Why would the Yankees do this deal?
Buehrle has between $48M & $52M remaining on his deal (he has a deferred $4M signing bonus)
Reyes has $96M remaining on his contract.
Combined, the two have an AAV for salary cap purposes of $32.17M.
ARod has $124M remaining on his contract (including his signing bonuses due in 2013/14 & his $6M bonus for hitting 13 HR next season) and counts $27.5M AAV for salary cap purposes.
So the Yankees would take on more salary AND give the Marlins two young, cost controlled players?
They are not that desperate to get rid of ARod.Forgive me for taking the Contrarian view

Re: "Source:" A-Rod to Miami maybe?
I wouldn't do it, but the Yankees might like Buerhle given he's gone 12 straight seasons with 200+ IP and he's a lefty. That has value.
They might see Reyes as a viable leadoff hitter and guys like Levine always love to get a former Met when possible.
Above all else they might feel like they've reached a point of no return with A-Rod and seriously consider offers.

No matter how good or bad a deal might seem, I can't see A-Rod waiving the NTC.

I can understand your thoughts about Nunez. But, Nova has proved to me that he has the ability that he can be a good pitcher. We need all the pitchers we can get with CC having this surgery . I truly think Nova will make a really good Number 3 pitcher. And like I said before we do need all the pitching we can get. For Nunez I'll say that I am probably one of the very small group of people who like him. But, Nova I don't think I'm the only one who thinks he has a big upside.

Re: "Source:" A-Rod to Miami maybe?
Nunez IMO is worthless, he can't hit, he can't field. He's just a worthless sack of crap that this front office has a weird fascination with.
As for Nova, he showed this year what we had read about him while he was in the minors. Good stuff, but just ungodly hittable. I agree that you can never have enough arms throughout the season, but Nova isn't someone I'd cry over losing.

Re: "Source:" A-Rod to Miami maybe?
The Yanks wish they can get Buehrle and Reyes for A-rod. Reyes' contract can be appealing to another team if the Yanks wanted to flip him. That would allow the Yanks to slash payroll big time. Buehrle is even appealing if the Yanks wanted to throw in some cash and flip him.
Caveat - I believe a players can't be traded twice within a certain time-frame without their consent.

Re: "Source:" A-Rod to Miami maybe?
Buerhrle's contract is going to require some cash thrown in if they wanted to trade him -- it's incredibly back-loaded, with $37 million coming in the last two years. I can see the Yankees being more willing to deal with that than the Marlins, especially if it was part of the price for ridding themselves of A-Rod's contract.
That said, it's hard to believe an NL team would want any part of A-Rod"Welcome to NYYFans, the place where Yankees fans come together to complain about the manner in which our team is winning games" -- Mr. Coffee

Re: "Source:" A-Rod to Miami maybe?
Interested in this "flipping" Reyes after acquiring him talk. Where do you guys see him being flipped to without the Yanks taking a large chunk of his salary also? Dodgers already have Ramirez, doubt they are looking for Hanley/Reyes issues, we wouldnt trade with Boston, whom else would take a 100 mill shortstop without serious HR power?

A-Rod says he'll be here. Girardi says he'll be here. He's gonna be here.

Re: "Source:" A-Rod to Miami maybe?
You want the Yankees to pay what amounts to $85.5M to Philadelphia, plus another $10-$15M in bonuses, and not get an elite prospect back? Oh, and ALSO pay another 3B to take over?
Essentially what you're saying is Rodriguez's production isn't worth $7M/yr, which is what the difference in that deal is before calculating in the replacement 3B salary.NYYFans Fantasy Baseball - Springfield Nuclear Power Plant
