Should we fire him? I think so.

I really don't think Girardi should be fired.

But it may be very hard to bring back both him and A-Rod, and it may be impossible to move A-Rod.

    EDIT: And pass on Piniella.

Re: Should we fire Joe Girardi?

he is embarrassing A-Rod, who is signed for 5 more years

A-Rod will not trust him any more after what he's done this post season, basically nailing him to the bench and making him a scapegoat

I'm indifferent. In general, I disagree with a good number of things he does. However, I dont blame him for what has happened this postseason.

Who is out there available that would be a major upgrade?

    So....different manager....

ARod/Cano/Swisher/Granderson - they hit normally? Because that is the problem, nothing else.

Re: Should we fire Joe Girardi?

    No.

The only major knocks on Girardi are:
    (a) Blaming him for the offense's awful performance ... I don't think you can lay this at his feet, and if there's going to be a fall guy for this it's Kevin Long.
    (b) Blaming him for the handling of A-Rod ... but this has to be either an organizational decision, or an injury situation that has not been made public. So why would ownership blame him for this?

I agree Kevin Long should be fired as well

we need a whole new manager, new coaching staff. a clean slate

I don't blame Girardi for the offense struggles

but I blame him for throwing A-Rod under the bus, it's inexcusable what he's done to Alex who still has 5 years and over $100 million on his contract!!!

Girardi is too smart to make these moves around A-Rod without the support of the front office. These are historically significant managerial decisions and it would be the height of foolishness to make them alone.

I've not been happy with Girardi for quite some time, despite the '09 championship which A-Rod handed to him on a platter.

I think it's either him or A-rod, and since Arod has an awful contract, I say Yes.

    exactly

and look how Girardi treats him now: he had SWISHER on deck to pinch hit in the 9th rather than A-Rod

that was the final straw for me

Re: Should we fire Joe Girardi?

how exactly would firing girardi start making these hitters perform in the post-season?

Re: Should we fire Joe Girardi?

We've been screaming about lineups, play this guy, don't play that guy, but I have to say Girardi has tried just about everything he can try to get this offense going and nothing has worked, and thats on the players, especially the guys who are expected to produce.

I mean he puts a kid like Nunez in the lineup tonight, a kid who is making the league minimum, and the kid hits a HR off Verlander in what turned out to be a one run game. If guys like Tex, Cano, Granderson, Arod and Swisher were doing likewise, doing what a kid making the minimum did, we're probably up 3-0 in this series instead of down 3-0. This is on the players, 100%, in no way can I blame this on Girardi.

Re: Should we fire Joe Girardi?

The lack of offense is the reason why the Yankees have struggled so bad in the postseason. To say that Joe should lose his job because of that is silly.

    Is this thread a joke?

Girardi fired? Will not happen. Cannot happen. Case closed. Forget about it. Next question.

I don't think "we" can fire anybody.

I wish "we" employees had firing privileges at my workplace ... I know a few who would be gone in a heartbeat.

Re: Should we fire Joe Girardi?

    Girardi stays

Pay A-Rod to never wear pinstripes again though

We need youth these old injury prone guys bow down every post season

And Cashman should go to, this asinine contracts with everyone getting a no-trade clause if absurd, just stop it those days are over where you can buy an Elite team, use the farm system acquire guys under 30 and build up a legit pitching staff
