Re: Swisher is upset about fans booing him. Are we wrong?
When Jeter was going through his big slump and was asked how he felt about the fans booing him at Yankee Stadium, he responded by saying "If I were them, I'd boo me too".

Re: Swisher is upset about fans booing him. Are we wrong?
I know people hate A-Rod and he has been the whipping boy even at times like in 2006 when he still had a very good season, but he has never lashed out at the fans. He has even said as recently as this postseason that he agrees with the fans, and that he too would boo himself. This is a guy who just on a daily basis many Yankee fans dislike, so I am sure that he has heard much worse than Swisher, including threats to his family and self and he doesnt mop and cry to the media about it.

Re: Swisher is upset about fans booing him. Are we wrong?
Just because these guys say they would boo too doesn't make it right, and just because Swisher is upset and voice his opinion doesn't make him wrong. Booing your team takes the life out of the game, out of the players, out of the stadium. It kills me that when I'm yelling out encouragement, my words are being drowned out by boos from a bunch of people that I presume don't care enough about the team or have the respect for them and are only there because the tickets were 9 bucks on stubhub and they feel entitled because they "love" the Yankees

Re: Swisher is upset about fans booing him. Are we wrong?
Another way to look at it ... no one would boo if they didn't care how the team/player was doing on the field.

Don't give them a reason to boo? I like Swisher but this annoys me.

Re: Swisher is upset about fans booing him. Are we wrong?
I dont boo players, its just counter productive. I would only boo a player for a bone headed play (like the Hanley lack of hustle on the gound ball) or boo a manager for taking out a pitcher who has been on fire
The real reason why the Yankees keep winning is cause the other team can't stop staring at the damn pinstripes

Re: Swisher is upset about fans booing him. Are we wrong?
Booing the team after the game..I dont have an isue with. Booing individuals during the game is silly because ultimately, you need that player to be better the next time around.
Fans cant talk about player loyalty when they are so quick to boo any player that is going through a tough time."Owning the Yankees," Steinbrenner once said, "is like owning the Mona Lisa."

Re: Swisher is upset about fans booing him. Are we wrong?
I love how people say "get over it" like thousands of people basically saying "you suck at your job" by booing is something that would never impact them. We must have some really strong people around here.

Yea and were also learning that smiling is an unforgiveable offense around here too. If Swish fakes a sad face does that mean he cares more that he's not doing well?

Re: Swisher is upset about fans booing him. Are we wrong?
During the game or after the game; if it gets the player upset and impacts performance either is bad . . they do play the next day.
As for booing in general, we all agree it's counterproductive. So why do it? Vent frustration certainly. It's sort of the same reason why when dealing with a bad driving situation some people give the other guy the Italian salute and others don't. That can certainly be more than counterproductive . .

Re: Swisher is upset about fans booing him. Are we wrong?
I think Swisher is just distancing himself from the fans because he knows he isn't going to be here next year. Then he can go wax poetic about the fans from whatever city he winds up in.
