Such a quick turn around, let's hope the offense wakes up.

Re: ALCS: Detroit Tigers vs New York Yankees
Gonna have to throw CC on short rest in either Gm 3 or Gm 7 (if it comes to that). Presumably the outcome of the first two games will dictate what direction Joe goes in.

I wish Girardi would have pinch-hit Arod for Chavez in the 8th tonight - would have taken a little of the drama out of putting him back in tomorrow.

Pettitte versus Fister in game one I believe. Should be a great game. Loving baseball every day this postseason

Re: ALCS: Detroit Tigers vs New York Yankees
I believe in third-time's a charm.
It happened against the Angels in the 2009 ALCS.
I think it can happen again vs. the Tigers in the 2012 ALCS.
Improve our hitting with RISP and scratching more than enough runs is one thing, but I also think we gotta hold serve at home.
In the 2002 and 2005 ALDS, the Yankees were a combined 2-2 before going 3-0 vs. the Angels in the 2009 ALCS.
In the 2006 and 2011 ALDS, the Yankees were a combined 2-3 vs. the Tigers. It's not the 27 World Championships that drive the New York Yankees. It's the 28th.
Every year is The Year. Go Yankees.

Re: ALCS: Detroit Tigers vs New York Yankees
I'm confused about the pitching schedule. Since Kuroda pitched on Wednesday, that means he won't be ready until Monday, right? In that case, who pitches Game 2 on Sunday?

Re: ALCS: Detroit Tigers vs New York Yankees
I think you could go with Kuroda on short rest and have Phelps ready in the pen if he doesn't have it or tires early, then his next start would be Game 6 on long rest, and that gives him two starts at home where he's been at his best.
For CC I think we'll do the opposite, give him his normal rest for Game 4 because he's coming off a grueling workload in the ALDS, then bring him back on short rest for Game 7 if necessary, with a rested Hughes waiting in the wings."Owning the Yankees is like owning the Mona Lisa." -- George M. Re: ALCS: Detroit Tigers vs New York Yankees
I'd go with...
Pettitte gm 1
Phelps gm 2 (don't want Kuroda on short rest)
Kuroda gm 3
CC gm 4

Re: ALCS: Detroit Tigers vs New York Yankees
You can do that too, then you would have a fully rested Kuroda for Game 7
But in that case you only get CC once, and Kuroda once if it doesn't go 7
Thats why I rather go Kuroda in Game 2, even if he only gives us four or five innings, then let Phelps takeover when he's done. This way we know we can bring Kuroda back on long (five days) rest for a Game 6, and we still have CC & Hughes for Game 7, same as we have Kuroda & Phelps for Game 2"Owning the Yankees is like owning the Mona Lisa." -- George M. I think it's time to sit Swisher down. Gardner handles pressure well and would bring a lot more to the offense.

Re: ALCS: Detroit Tigers vs New York Yankees
What's the deal with Gardner anyways? If he's not healthy he shouldn't be on the roster; if he is, he definitely should be playing over Swisher.

Re: ALCS: Detroit Tigers vs New York Yankees
Can't do it, bjoe, its asking too much. He just threw 18 grueling innings in the ALDS, both times 120+ pitches, then we're asking him to pitch on short rest twice in the ALCS ... its too much ... even if he wanted to do it, it would be a miracle if his arm didn't fall off ... he would be pitching on fumes.
IMO you have to give him normal rest for his first start after this grueling ALDS, so I wouldn't pitch him until Game 4, then if you want to bring him back on short rest for Game 7 (if necessary), that you can do, but hopefully we wrap it up in 6 and have him for Game 1 of the WS on long rest."Owning the Yankees is like owning the Mona Lisa." -- George M.
