Looked around, and did not find one. so i say we do this for fun.
I guess it could have come yesterday, but to hell with selig's wild-card thingy.
AL
Yanks over Orioles in ALDS- 4 games
Tigers over A's in ALDS- 4 games
Yanks over Tigers in 6
NL
Nats over Cards in 4
Giants over Reds in 3
WS
Yanks over Giants in 7
; )
hope there isn't some ongoing superstition with these kinds of threads, but i was surprised to not find one.

Re: Playoff Prediction Thread
There is usually a surprisingly high amount of sweeps in the division series. So:
NYY over BAL in 3
OAK over DET in 5
WAS over STL in 3
CIN over SFG in 3

The Reds were my WS pick before the playoffs started...but the Cueto injury could change that around.

Re: Playoff Prediction Thread
Yankees over Orioles in 4 games - only because I believe the Oriole fans deserve to see their team win one in Camden Yards
Detroit over Oakland in 4 games
CIN over SF 4 games
STL over WSH in 5 games
Yankees beat DET in 5 games
STL beats CIN in 7 games
Yankees sweep STL in the World Series and avenge their 1964 loss to the Cardinals.
My predictions are entirely predicated on the fact that I still carry a grudge against the Cardinals for that 1964 loss. That WS is the first one I can remember from my childhood and I cried when the Yankees lost that series. I WANT REVENGE!!!!!Forgive me for taking the Contrarian view

Small world. ^
That's the same year I started cheering on the Yanks and understanding baseball.
Would love to have a dish of cold revenge, thank you very much.

Oak over Det
Wash over Cards
Cinn over SF

Cinn over Wash
Detroit vs Cinn in the World Series! Think Fox is looking forward to the ratings on that matchup?
Probably, the best matchup would be Yanks vs. Cards

Re: Playoff Prediction Thread
i'm always really surprised to see some people predict other teams to win the WS in these threads. maybe youre not a yankees fan, okay, but if you are--have some faith, choose your team to win it all.

Re: Playoff Prediction Thread
I don't think it's required to choose your favorite team to win the WS. I love the Yankees and have faith in them, but at the end of the day I honestly don't think they have what it takes to win it all this year. Granted, I do feel much better about their chances now after seeing CC continue to beast out and our offense come to life off of one of the games elite closers. I absolutely hope I'm wrong about them losing, but that's just how I see it right now. Don't see how that makes me any less of a fan.

Re: Playoff Prediction Thread
I could never bring myself to pick the Tigers over us. Even though they appear to be stronger on paper, we did get to Verlander last year and third time around is the charm. I do believe we can beat them this year in the postseason (assuming we and they get to the ALCS).

Re: Playoff Prediction Thread
Actually - there is a way to blame the pitching for game 2.....
If the pitchers would have only let up 1 run, the Yankees woulda won the game.
Not realistic to expect the pitchers to go 9 with only allowing 1 run?
At this point, it may not be realistic to expect the offense to actually get hit to drive in runners either.
Anyway - I think there's more of a chance that the pitchers pitch shutout than the Yankees hitting with RISP.....Welcome to NYYFans, the place where Yankees fans come together to complain about the manner in which our team is winning games.

Re: Playoff Prediction Thread
It's being realistic. Of course we all want the Yankees to win but it's a long and tedious path and the best of the best remain. I actually think the Reds and Nats have pretty sick teams and will be a major problem if the Yankees get that far. I am dreading a series against the Tigers especially if they sweep and Verlander is fresh for at least 2 appearances.
As for this current series I believe the Yanks can win, but I pick them in 5.NYYFans Fantasy Baseball
