Good. Even if they switched stations, I was confident they'd end up with the same announcers, just with a crappier signal.

Re: Yankees staying on WCBS 880
The news just gets worse every day. Just like Sterling gets blinder ever season.

Ken Harrelson says that John Sterling taught him how to be a broadcaster when they both lived in Atlanta in the 70's.

T-minus 30 days before Raissman starts writing about the chance that the Yankees will leave Sterling/WCBS in 2014.
How often did he write that article in the last 12 months? Once a month, if not more?

This staying on WCBS for one more year is brought to you by Staybridge Suites, where you too can stay for a year.

My reception is, and always has been, LOUSY on WCBS 880.
I really was hoping they would be moving to another station.
Rats.

Re: Yankees staying on WCBS 880
Do you have a major broadcast area near you that interferes? I remember years ago, I had to get a power FM antenna to listen to WBGO (88.3FM), since it broadcast from Newark, and the former WTC towers (a major broadcaster) were right in between us.
Otherwise, I'd fiddle with the antenna.Dr King (1929-68): A dream is forgotten unless others carry on.

Re: Yankees staying on WCBS 880
Yesterday MLBN showed the 75 best plays of 2001-2009. Obviously Jeter held many of them among other Yankees. I forgot over the years that Sterling used to actually be listenable. Hearing the Brosius HR call... it was just a normal call. Tino's game tying HR, same deal. The only thing he said was "The Yankees win!" I didn't mind it. I remember why I once actually liked the guy.
He needs to lose the shtick. I think I'd be able to tolerate the bad calls if he just tried to call the game instead of making himself a character in the game. I'd be much less critical of him.NYYFans Fantasy Baseball

The WCBS/WFAN tower in the Bronx is quite famous in broadcasting. The tower is located on High Island in the Bronx which looks more like Maine than New York City.

We can't get WCBS in Chicago as WLS 890 blocks it out ( same applies to WFAN because of WSCR )

We can get the games on WHAM in Rochester when they carry the Yankees.

Re: Yankees staying on WCBS 880
He's been "reporting" that the Yankees could leave WCBS for years. YEARS. They've reupped at least twice since he's been reporting they could leave. It's brutal, brutal writing to then write about it a week after they sign a new contract. The guy writes with a vendetta (notice how often he blasts YES, and notice how often he hands SNY a cookie).
