I can't believe no one has started one yet.

I can't believe that the Yankees are even bothering with him at this point.

Re: 2012 Steve Pearce Performance Thread

he was in AAA for the Yankees' earlier this year before he opted out... not really sure why they wanted him back.

the guy does little well. I guess he's hit lefties pretty solidly in the majors, but the minor league splits suggest that that level lefty-hitting may not be entirely sustainable.

Apparently the Yankees knew that Tex was going to be on the shelf for the next few weeks.

They obtained him for "cash considerations." I believe they just wanted another right-handed bat.

Batting cleanup? Has the Yankee Offense come to this?

So a guy who wasn't even good enough to play for the Astros or the Orioles is our cleanup hitter tonight?

    Is Girardi trolling everyone?

In tonight's game, Pearce walked, advanced to second on a wild pitch, advanced to third on a groundout, and scored on a sac fly, giving the Yankees what proved to be the winning run without benefit of a hit.

Clearly, he is the player the Yankees have needed all year!

bye bye casey mcgehee, hello steve pearce
McGehee will be back in September. That's why they sent him to Low-A:

    • To make room on the roster, Casey McGehee was optioned to Charleston. He was sent all the way down to Low-A because that season will end sooner, and McGehee can be called up sooner. The way I’ve always understood the rule is this: When a player is optioned, he has to remain optioned for 10 days unless there’s a big league injury. The 10-day rule still applies for September call-ups, unless the player’s minor league season ends. In McGehee’s case, the Yankees Triple-A, Double-A and High-A teams are still in the playoff hunt. Low-A Charleston is not, which means that team’s season will end on September 3 and McGehee will be eligible to return.

He hits lefties well and he didn't want tho break up the top 3 who had been gong well there. Not much of an explaination but it was the one he gave.

Cant touch the top 3 of the Yanks lineup right now. STill was weird last night having Pearce hit clean up with no Arod or Tex in the lineup.

I realize that it is an extremely small sample size, but really I do not see anything that Pearce can add to this team that McGehee was not already doing.

I absolutely hate his swing ... he does not look like a guy who should have a job in the major leagues.
