Roger Clemens to make return to baseball

This isn't that outlandish a line of thinking as it seems. I wonder if this is part of his rationale.

The thought formed in my mind before I finished reading the first sentence explaining the news, so yeah I can definitely imagine the comeback being all about the HOF voting timetable.

I have always felt that the HOF fates for Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds will be linked. One hitter, one pitcher; one AL, one NL; one black, one white. Both with HOF credentials before they started using; both not only prolonging their careers but setting records while doing it; both stubborn in their refusal to acknowledge truths readily apparent to even the most casual observer.

Either both get in, or both stay out.

Also had a funny bit, concerning George Steinbrenner, which now seems

Well, if he wants a contender to play, Houston's playing 6 vs. STL, and then 3 vs. MIL, and 3 vs. PIT if you still want to consider them WC longshot contenders. I wouldn't necessarily mind seeing if he can back his words.

Almost certainly not. He wasn't interested in pitching a full season at 45; I can't imagine he'd want to do it at 51. Unless you mean as a reliever, in which case... still probably not, but I would be less shocked.

I, for one, would love to see him pitch again in the bigs.

People really need to realize that the competition runs through these athletes' blood streams. It's difficult to get rid of. Very difficult.
If he can get out hitters, why not?
