Our nice cushion is starting to slip away.
This team is really playing flat. It also does not help that we are hurt in a lot of ways. I thought tonight we had this one from the first inning. Then I checked back in and found that Nova crapped the bed in the second inning. Your thoughts.

Re: Our nice cushion is starting to slip away.
Cashman said that arods injury really had a chilling effect on the lineup, but imo, they were playing like ................ way before arod got hurt
It's just the ebbs and flows of a regular season... There was no way they were going to finish in first place by 10 games and continue playing winning baseball at the ate they were going at... The law of averages is a bitch, but it's inevitable
Once the injured players start coming back, I can see this team starting to pick it up again... Hopefully their lead wouldn't have disintegrated by then

Biggest divisional lead in MLB by two games. Hardly threadworthy.

Re: Our nice cushion is starting to slip away.
I guess one could also look at it like having such a nice cushion allows a team to lose 2/3 of the middle of their lineup in a week and survive a 3-9 stretch without immediate catastrophe.

Re: Our nice cushion is starting to slip away.
One could also take a slightly longer term view and see that the team was up by 6 games on 7/1 and by 5.5 games on 8/1

Just means they will build it back up when they start playing better.
You know they are not real pies, right?

Re: Our nice cushion is starting to slip away.
Just put up 11 runs a game, and you'll keep the lead

I had a nice cushion once. But then I sat on it too many times and my fat ass flattened it out.
Rocking that "arrogant Yankee fan" attitude.

At least it took 3 weeks to do it.

Thought we would at least win one against the Chi Sox. Turns out that Sales kid is the real deal. Our starting pitching has gotten really shaky of Kuroda. Let's hope we get Sabathia back at full strength and that Cano rights himself from his mini-slump.

Not really hitting the panic button yet (96.5% chance of making the playoffs) but it'd be nice to get a few more wins and expand that division lead.
