    Jack Cust availability

I am surprised that Boston hasn't tried to get him since Ortiz is down. He has decent numbers in the minors and has certainly big league experience with several clubs.

I'm surprised the Yanks haven't used him.

How would they use him? He is no longer even an excuse for an OFer. He has only been DHing at AAA. So whom are you going to release to bring him up? The only players on the 25 with options are pitchers. If you release Wise, you have no CF backup or defensive OFer to use in late innings.

I agree. That's why a team like Boston would be more realistic for him.

The RedSox love Ortiz's bat but hate the fact that he can't field. They would rather use that DH spot to give Crawford, Elsbury and Gonzalez a rest like the Yanks do with their hitters.

I applaud your use of the objective pronoun "whom" rather than the subjective pronoun "who". I will therefore concede that I am wrong about Cust; there is no place for him. You're right and I stand corrected. Besides, who needs a guy falling down on his way home?
