Another interesting question should be "Which players would you want on the team in place of the ones they have this year, if management could pick anyone now playing"?

And then have a list featuring all the best talent in both leagues.

A similar seat in 2013, now called Legends Suites, for the whole season is, get this, $76,950. That is $950 per game. Individual tickets without the season plan are even more expensive. Now I know there has been inflation over the last three decades. But this seat is almost 140 times its 1979 price!

Just curious, as long as you're not disclosing anything confidential or similar - what the general location(s) is/are for the highly discounted tickets? Grandstand versus premium versus very premium?

I've seen that before but it is spectacular. I never realized the world was actually in color back in those days.

Not sure but I thought I saw a fast glimpse of Gehrig at the 2:55 or so mark.I know he wasn't playing but he was still with the team through that season.

Attended the RailRiders game last night. Had tickets before Jetermania hit. Game was uneventful with Pineda struggling in 1st inning. Jeter signed about 15 autographs between warmups and first pitch. Funny watching the "Yankees" and seeing players/coaches wearing numbers 3, 4, etc.

Did anyone else notice the guy throwing off the mound at about 2:30? I guess he was like some sort of mascot. He was throwing underhand then made believe he was throwing to the outfield and finally falls on the mound

Re: Interesting Yankee News Items That Do Not Warrant Their Own Thread

This is at the Yankees' minor league level (Class A Charleston Riverdogs) but it's a pretty cool story so I thought I'd post it in OOP:
    http://www.abcnews4.com/story/231171...nouncers-dream
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Saturday night seemed like a normal night at Riley Park for Riverdogs broadcaster Sean Houston.

"Usually, it's me for three hours talking to myself," said the University of Florida graduate.

After a season and a half behind the mic, over a hundred nights calling South Atlantic League baseball, this all seems fairly commonplace.

"I'm used to calling games. Even my first game, I didn't feel nerves. I felt prepared," said Houston.

It's amazing how things all can change on one mid-summer night, especially when sitting down in Section 108 below Houston, enjoying a ballgame with his son was his broadcasting idol, Bob Costas.

"Somebody doing what I do, he's the guy we all look up to. He's the best. He's the best at baseball play-by-play," Houston said.

America's most celebrated sportscaster knows the ladder that Houston is climbing.

"A guy who does minor league baseball is really doing classic broadcasting. Working by himself, players in A Ball do not have extensive histories. There is no stat man, no large stack of index cards," said Costas, who has been the face of all four major sports as well as the Olympics on national television networks.

That is why Costas agreed to fulfill one of Houston's dreams. He sat in for an inning with the voice of the Riverdogs.

"It was almost surreal," said Houston. "Strange to intro him on the air, to call an inning with Bob Costas, I was extremely excited."
There's video at the site of Costas in the booth with Houston.

I was wondering when this would finally come to Connecticut since we're wedged in between the two fan zones and have no team in our home state.

Unfortunately Red Sox only available now, but supposedly Yankees plates are on the way:
Currey acknowledged that Yankee fans, situated mostly in the southwestern part of the state, will one day be able to announce their baseball loyalties on their car bumpers.
"The Yankees have been in touch with us but they're not as far along as the Red Sox," Currey said.
