Interesting Yankee News Items That Do Not Warrant Their Own Thread
Some items may be more interesting and/or useful than others. Just think "Seinfeld", as to the yadda-yadda part. A thread about nothing shall thus begin.

Re: Interesting Yankee News Items That Do Not Warrant Their Own Thread
I hope this hasn't been posted before--but remember how Tino Martinez, during his playing days, used to say that his mother, Sylvia, kept reminding him that he needed to finish college?
I wasn't aware that he completed his degree until a few weeks ago--he graduated in 2011--but it's a nice story, so I thought I'd post:

Congratulations, Tino!

I hadn't heard it before. That's a really nice story, thanks for posting.
Belated congratulations to Tino."Being at Tino's graduation was emotional for me,'' said Martinez's mother, Sylvia, a UT graduate who is an elementary school teacher.
"I couldn't even look at her (his mother),'' said Martinez's older brother, Rene, a UT graduate who is executive vice president of Heritage Bank. "I was having some trouble holding it together myself.''

Re: Interesting Yankee News Items That Do Not Warrant Their Own Thread
Was at the Anthrax show at the Wellmont in Montclair NJ Friday night and during the last encore (I am the Law), someone came on stage playing another bass guitar and moving all around the stage. I did not recognize who it was. At the end of the song, Joey Belladonna shouts out. "Thank you to Mark Teixeira of the New York Yankees- He's a F****ng metal head!"
Only video I could find at the below link. Not close enough to really prove its him but after Joey said that, I could see him standing side stage

BALTIMORE -- Two Maryland state troopers couldn’t have picked a worse time to ask for autographs Sunday night.
In the top of the ninth inning of the Yankees’ 7-2 win in Game 1 of the American League Division Series against the Orioles at Camden Yards, the troopers asked Nick Swisher and Derek Jeter for autographs in the dugout.
“Swish was livid,’’ said a person who witnessed the stupid request.
Asked if that ever happened before, Jeter said, “What do you think?”
Law enforcement officials are no strangers to big league dugouts, but after last night’s behavior it’s likely the Yankees will attempt to have those two troopers removed from their dugout for tonight’s Game 2.

Anytime Swish is that angry, you know it's got to be pretty ridiculous. Geez.....what morons.
At the other end of the spectrum, we have the NYPD. Several officers were always on hand during our Meet & Greet with Mike. As one of those events was winding down, a young policeman pointed to him and asked me, "Which player is he again?"

Re: Interesting Yankee News Items That Do Not Warrant Their Own Thread
I have a pic that I'd cut out from the Daily News of Mo posing in a suit for the NY Acura dealers. He's listed as a "professional baseball player". I'll have to scan that sometime.
Jeter also did some Ford commercial, and I think he's driving in one. There was another where some top race car driver is driving Jeter, and they're racing against Danica Patrick. I'm not even sure if Danica drives a Ford when she races professionally, but wot-evah.
There's also a Yankee play to be on Broadway soon. Unfortunately, Beantowner-fer-life, Matt Damon is expected to play The Mick. I'm still wondering if I should post that.Dr King (1929-68): A dream is forgotten unless others carry on.
