Is it OK to admit that I pretty much hate watching this guy pitch and that I have from the very beginning?

Can't wait until he's gone from this team.

From the very beginning? You hated watching him pitch in '07?

Or as a starter in 2008 when he was dominant?

He said at the beginning of spring training that he could still be a starter. He couldn't be dumb enough to not focus as a reliever because of that, or hope he gets traded to a team that would let him start, could he? It just seems bizarre how bad he has been.

    Ha ... ok.

    U kno what i hated ?

I hated watching this organization ruin or give up on prospect after prospect, due to their obsession with winning "now "

Absolutely pathetic that an organization as storied as the Yankees has such a poor system for scouting and development in place.

Banking on free agents ... and now u look around, free agency is DEAD. Everyone is signing extensions.

The kids we do have are either a few years away or cant stay healthy. Overall, this organization is in a bad spot.

Joba Chamberlain is the least of their worries. If they had given him a fair shot in his development phase, he'd be a better product.

And there were some fans who were against trading him to Texas this Spring. Seriously, what are we clinging to at this point?

They shouldve traded him to Arizona way back when for Dan Haren. But nooooo ... Cashman wanted to hold onto him. In the right setting i bet he could be a decent starter or setupman /closer.

This team is almost detrimental to player development.

Its as if theyre so used to fondling old men, thats all they know how to do now.

He'll be on the team the whole year and he will pitch much better, even though I don't think he will break any records.

Oh yeah........he has to stay healthy. Tall order the way his career has gone.

Every year, we keep waiting for this guy to get his act together. How much longer before we realize that he simply will not?

This is his second appearance of the season. He hasn't been good but it's still early.

When Cashman didn't trade Joba I assumed it was based on the belief that he was going to start again the very next yr but that didn't happen. Cashman held onto to someone that was going to be a 7th inning guy at best wtf. In what world does that make sense.

    • Fear not, everyone. The best news of today — and for the superstitious among you, the reason for today — is that Joba Chamberlain shaved his mustache. “It wasn’t doing us any good,” he explained, and he’s right. It wasn’t doing any of us, Yankees and non-Yankees alike, any good. Not any good at all.

    Why? His performance hasn't changed.
If they ask who was our star, give them 25 names, and if you forget our names, just tell them we were Yankees.

Re: 2012 Joba Chamberlain Performance Thread

Rivera actually had to get up and throw in the 9th inning because this guy couldn't be bothered to throw strikes with a six-run lead. Amazing.

Re: 2012 Joba Chamberlain Performance Thread

5 run lead. Why are you relying on your offspeed stuff so much? You can't throw it for strikes, so throw that 95 mph heater down the middle and dare hitters to hit it.

That was one of the more annoying scoreless innings of relief you'll see. Nibbling after 0-2 counts with a 5 run lead in the 9th and walking 2.

Silver lining - the stuff looked pretty darn good.

...but why would he do that? That's kind of like...you know, being a cawk about things. Throw strikes, quit trying to pad your resume.
