I love baseball in general and the Yankees just happen to be my favorite team since I knew what baseball was.

Re: 2012 Joba Chamberlain Performance Thread
He's only pitched 6 innings. I mean, I'm not really bullish on where he career his heading given the past, but it's a little rough to bury him after 6 innings this year.

The real reason why the Yankees keep winning is cause the other team can't stop staring at the damn pinstripes

Re: 2012 Joba Chamberlain Performance Thread
It really doesn't. The team is in a tight division race and Joba hasn't pitched well, which is generally to be expected from a guy who's barely a year removed from reconstructive elbow surgery. Once he demonstrates the ability to consistently command his fastball and slider in those mop-up innings, we'll start seeing him in more high-leverage situations.

Re: 2012 Joba Chamberlain Performance Thread
I know they had to replace Qualls, but looking at how bad his command has been when he's pitched, I just can't imagine how they thought not letting him ride out the full time down there was a good move.
at this point, considering what his role is now and how inconsistent it may be, it's almost not been entirely fair to the player.

Re: 2012 Joba Chamberlain Performance Thread
I always thought Joba could come back since back in the day.......and he has..........but the Yankees were in his way.
As of late he has been getting in his own way. Still needs to keep that ankle safe......for starters.

Re: 2012 Joba Chamberlain Performance Thread
How about 2008 when he pitched only 4.2 innings in August, with a 9.64 ERA.
Then "came back" in Sep. to pitch 11.1 innings at a 2.38.
Is that back in the day enough for Joba? How tough was the 2009 season for him?
His 2010 season was something of a small miracle after the way he was jacked around in 2009.
He was having a fabulous year in 2011 until the start of June and has to come back from that, which was going fine until the ankle thing. The trampoline got in his way? Or he got in his own way, whatever.
"As of late" is not back in the day. Have to wait until next year to see if he can come back to the bullpen and be helpful to the team.

Re: 2012 Joba Chamberlain Performance Thread
Is he out of options?
Seems like the best for all involved would be to send him back down to get innings and regain command and control
It's not doing him any good sitting in the dugoutGreetings from Pensacola- highest per capita tattooed grandmothers in the US

Re: 2012 Joba Chamberlain Performance Thread
Had too much talent to fall off the face of the earth.........I can see him with the proper rehab and some good coaching he can be a very good reliever/ set-up man..........he's a mess right now and along with his mechanics his head is not right. Just maybe this stage is just too big for him.......

I'd let him go just for the sake of not having to be remind of what could have been everytime he comes up there tossing junk.

He didn't pitch poorly tonight. Can't blame the loss on Joba.

Re: 2012 Joba Chamberlain Performance Thread
Unless he enjoys playing some sort of fantasy baseball (the September edition), why would he not agree? Whenever he gets into a game, it gets put hopelessly out of range. A possible 2-run game tying 9th ends up being totally useless.
When I went back online and saw the score go from being down 5-3 to 8-3, I only thought of one thing:
JOBA
