I really want to see how his slider is looking. Pitch was so nasty when he was first called up to the majors. I'm cautiously optimistic.

The thought of Joba throwing triple digits with that killer slider makes me all giddy inside.

Im hoping through all the rehab and work he has put in that his shoulder issues are in the past as well as the elbow being solid. Cant wait to have him back.

Around the 1:40 mark. All that time off got him into pretty damn good shape.

Joba had another encouraging outing. He pitched 1 1/3 innings, allowing one hit while striking out the side in the eighth. He threw 30 pitches, 23 for strikes, with his fastball sitting between 94-98 mph.

I think it's because he hasn't pitched in so long, they're trying to have him face every situation that he'll face when he's called up, i.e. back to back, coming in to pitch in the middle of an inning, pitching multiple innings, etc. Also, a lot of Joba's rehab was in either Low A or High A and he was completely overwhelming hitters, so they probably want to get him in against some better competition. Dude hasn't pitched in forever, I don't mind that they're getting him as many reps as possible before calling him up.

Yes, and command generally comes back more slowly than velocity -- so just because he's hitting 100 and getting A-ball guys out doesn't mean he couldn't use a little more work

Looks like Qualls being traded might mean Joba being activated for tonight's game instead of getting his final tuneup in Trenton.
