Re: R.I.P. Ernest Borgnine
95 years old and he was still active in movie/TV roles right up until the end. That's the way to do it! God Bless.
May he rest in peace.

Re: R.I.P. Ernest Borgnine
I've seen his face before and I tried to look through his long list of credits but can't remember where I know him from...for some reason, I picture him in a bellboy outfit or something like that. I didn't know he had won an actor or had been in so many things.
RIP.

Damn. He was great.
He did have a good run - gotta admit that. I can picture his face and expressions perfectly.

Re: R.I.P. Ernest Borgnine
Just saw this. Ugh. He was one of my favorite character actors ever, and he could more than hold his own in a lead role when he got one. What a shame, though 95 good years is a hell of a run. I wonder what his secret was.

Re: R.I.P. Ernest Borgnine
He was asked his secret a few years ago on a talk show. I'm not going to repeat his answer here but I can send you a PM if you're interested.
Borgnine and Griffith were a huge part of my youth, and I followed both of them right up to the very end. Lots of laughs, on and off the stage. Tough week.Let the kids play.

Re: R.I.P. Ernest Borgnine
I know his answer--that's what I was referring to. Probably one of the best candid answers I've seen on any talk show.

He still has a movie that is yet to be released where he played the lead that he finished late last year at age 94. It's supposed to be released some time this year, though I don't know if it's getting a theatrical release and, if so, how wide, etc. I wonder if this might change anything in that regard, since it's his final work.-Kevin

Re: R.I.P. Ernest Borgnine
RIP, McHale.
He beat out Sinatra (Man With The Golden Arm), Jimmy Cagney, & Spence Tracy among others for the Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal as "Marty in the '50s.
His performance in "From Here To Eternity" was quite the accomplishment as it was soooo strange to see him playing such a "jerk" and Sgt. Fatso Judson was, indeed, the jerk of all jerks. He'll never get another milestone like that one. So what? His whole career is a milestone.

Sad! One of my favorite character actors. He had a damn long life and a good run. RIP.

Re: R.I.P. Ernest Borgnine
One of the most unforgettable faces and voices ever. If someone had asked me how old he was, I would have never guessed ninety-five.
Airwolf was one of those shows that had a relatively small following, but very loyal. McHale's Navy had a bunch of nutball characters that I still recall as if I just saw an episode last night. He portrayed such a wide range of parts, but made each one so believable.September 28, 2008 - the day the HOF got a wake-up Moose call.
